SCENE 5
INT. Inside the restaurant near their office.
At a table with many empty bottles of beer, Gale and Robbie sit. They are both drunk.
Gale puts his head on the table.
Gale Hughes
I hate my life... I hate my mom. I hate my boss... I hate all the bitches... in my office.
He looks at Robbie.
Gale Hughes
But I love you, Robbie. You're the only one I love...
And he kisses Robbie.
Gale Hughes
I don't know what to do anymore... I think that... I must go home... and commit suicide f...
Robbie Robinson
Don't speak like this, Gale... You have a nice life... think about...
Gale Hughes
What... What is nice in my life...?
Robbie thinks about something.
Robbie Robinson
Yeah... you're right. Nothing nice in your life... Until now. But think about the future. You must have a nice dream... to live for...
Gale Hughes
Yeah. I have dreams. And I want to live to see how it will be.
Robbie Robinson
See... what dream? Tell me about it.
Gale Hughes
(slightly smiling)
I want to live enough to see my mom dead and not to cook, clean, wash and all the others for her... That's my dream. To be free. I want her dead... She's a witch...
As usual, Robbie touches Gale's stomach with his fist but not hard.
Robbie Robinson
Don't be silly. She is a nice person and she loves you...
Gale Hughes
No... she isn't. But she needs me...
Robbie Robinson
I'm... talking about better dreams. About having a family. About taking care of someone...
Gale Hughes
I already have this... mom. And it's just like hell. I don't like this...
Robbie Robinson
No... not her. Having a wife... a child or children. Having a pet...
Gale Hughes
I don't want to clean dog's shit. Or not sleeping because of a child.
Robbie Robinson
But what about love? Don't you want someone to love you? To make love with her...
Gale Hughes
I have Greta for this.
And he raises his right hand.
Robbie Robinson
Don't you need sometimes to use somebody else.. Not only "Greta"...
Gale Hughes
Sometimes I use July...
And he raises up his left hand.
Robbie gently hits Gale's left hand.
Robbie Robinson
(he tries to whisper, but he speaks in a loud voice)
Be careful... women can hear us and think we are pussies.
Gale looks at the table on the left, which was close enough so people at that table could hear them. At that table there are two women. They look at the two men horrified.
Gale Hughes
Hi... Do you want to be my Greta tonight...?
The two women stand up.
Gale Hughes
No... How about to be my July.
One of the women hits Gale on his face. And both women leave the restaurant.
Robbie Robinson
Again being a jerk... That's why you don't have happiness in your life...
Gale looks at Robbie without saying anything.
Robbie Robinson
I think I am losing beer effect...
Gale Hughes
Yeah... me too.
Robbie Robinson
Your life continues to be a nightmare if you don't change yourself... Change yourself... Otherwise, you don't have any reason to live...
Gale Hughes
Yeah... you're right. That's why... I think the only thing I can do... is suicide.
Robbie starts to laugh.
Robbie Robinson
Sometimes you make me laugh. Especially when you're drunk... Like now... Speaking so easily about suicide...
But Gale doesn't laugh. He doesn't even smile. He is sober. He is serious.
Robbie Robinson
(serious)
Man... Don't speak like this. You have a beautiful life. I know it's a hard one but... think how many people wish to be like you... healthy... having a roof over his head.
Please don't speak about death... Please...
Gale says nothing. He thinks about something. And Robbie doesn't like the idea of his friend saying nothing.
Robbie Robinson
Man... say something. Any kind of shit... Anything...
But he gets no answer.
