KAYLA'S POV:

I sit at the dinner table with Minho, Thomas, Newt, and Chuck. Dinner has been quiet, just quiet murmers from other Gladers around us.

Ever since Alby's death this morning everyone has been a little mixed up, but we're getting over it, trying to focus on getter out of here.

"So, we're going back there again." Minho states out of the blue.

I turn to him on my left, Tommy on my right, and Chuck and Newt across from us.

I nod slowly, chewing my food. 

Thomas pipes in, "We could've died out there, Minho-"

"Yeah, but I don't want to die in here, shank. I'll tell you that." He cuts him off.

Minho lets his fork fall on the plate with a clang, then gets up and walks towards the Homestead.

I lower my gaze and Tommy scoots closer to me, pressing into my right side. I sigh and lean my head on his left shoulder.

"What're we gonna do..." I mumble.

"We're going to make it through this." He replies, sounding confident but I know he's breaking down.

I look ahead and see Newt poking at his foot angrily, so I remove my head from Tommy's shoulder.

I finish my food and get up from the bench, placing my plate on the wooden counter and walking to the hommocks, my body aching from running today.

I reach my hammock, next to Newt's and Tommy's, and climb in lazily, exhaling heavily.

"Oh my god..." I mumble into the cotton sheet.

"Hey..." A british accent whispers next to me.

I gasp slightly and look up. Newt stands there, hands on his hips.

"Uh... hey..."

Newt sighs and lies down on his hammock, about a foot from mine.

"You know... If anything happens in the Maze...with you...I'll find you.. if we get out."

"When." I correct.

"Right.. when... but seriously I will."

I close my eyes and exhale slowly.

"Thanks, Newt."

Then I drft off to sleep.
