I lay on my back, gazing at the stars above my head, the feeling I'd felt when we touched settling permanently inside of me. The wet grass tickled my bare legs, constantly reminding me that I was half-naked. Matthew noticed too and tried to pull the conversation out of dangerous waters.

"So... are you liking America?"

"Loving it. I didn't know getting expelled for writing down a cuss word was a thing."

"Yep. Sleepy Christians at it again."

I scowled at him.

"Right. Sorry."

He gave me a sideways look. "Did you hate me, at first?"

"No," I said honestly, "but I did think you were a bit of a dickhead."

"And you were wrong?" he smiled.

I didn't reply. Matthew gasped and nudged my ribs. I rolled around, laughing.
