Xiao's eyes scanned his assignment one last time before submitting it and closing the laptop.
now he can finally relax his tensed shoulders. his head turned to see the clock on the wall. he started this project at 8 PM and now it's already 1:30 AM.
his eyes traveled to see the sleeping woman in front of him. her red-horn-shaped headband stood out between her long light-blue hair.
Ganyu went to the same high school as Xiao. they also got into the same college. even though they've known each other for a long time, they were never close as friends.
last semester, she started working part-time, so it's clear as day why she fell asleep. as strict as Xiao can be, he wouldn't go as far as to wake her up.
his hands lazily picked up the spoon beside his teammate's laptop to eat the last bite of his almond tofu. tasting the sweetness melting on his tongue, Xiao closed his eyes.
Xiao opened his eyes once more to see Ganyu, still sleeping soundly. deciding that it's time to wake her up, he shook her arm gently.
her eyes slowly opened and she yawned. her sleepy state disappeared as soon as she laid her eyes on her laptop.
earlier, she had fallen asleep without finishing her part, leaving Xiao to do all the work by himself.
"i- must've fallen asleep earlier. lately, I've been missing sleep..." she explained nervously to the tired-looking boy in front of her.
"doesn't matter. what matters is that the project is finished now" Xiao replied coldly as he stood up from his seat.
Xiao reached for his wallet in his pocket to pay for the almond tofu and put it on the table. before Ganyu could say anything more, Xiao started walking towards the exit.
it's a small cafe near his college. it has a warm aesthetic, perfect for studying or just hanging out with friends.
it's the cafe Ganyu worked part-time at, which is why they were allowed to do their project at the cafe for long past closing time.
Xiao's fingers touched the cold handle of the cafe doorway and pulled it just enough for him to slip out of it.
Xiao was met with the familiar scenery as soon as he stepped out. the calming night wind quickly swayed his hair making it a little messy.
the view of his pitch-dark university and an empty road in front of him refreshed his mind. all his previous thoughts about the project vanished into thin air.
his legs started making their way back to his house. he took his time admiring his surroundings but his steps weren't too slow.
Xiao looked up to see the sky was full of clouds. no moonlight, no stars, there were just clouds up there. the only light illuminating his path was the streetlight.
he felt like the darkness from the trees on the wayside started to surround him every time he started walking away from a streetlight.
he could feel the wind getting colder. he shivered as a gust of wind passed through him. he knew that it was going to rain when he heard the distant lightning sound.
he took a deep breath and moved his legs faster. Xiao doesn't like the darkness. until now, he never realized how the moonlight could make him feel so comfortable
the moon may not be as bright as the sun, but it's there to light up the dark of the night. it's like the sun but at night.
