Chapter 17:- Dinner.

The night went by in no time and soon, it was Saturday. Damilola’s alarm began ringing. The loud
sound of the alarm made her roll around the bed, placing the pillow over her hear. Finally, she
reluctantly gave in to the alarm, staring at it like she wanted nothing more but to smash it.

She dragged herself out of bed, freshened up and ate breakfast while watching TV. She was free
today, she won’t be meeting Richard till in the evening.

At the thought of Richard, she began to blush, remembering the events that transpired the day before.

She sat all day in her living room, watching movies and chatting together with Clara who came over
in the afternoon. Soon it was evening. Engrossed in the movie she was watching; a call came through. She grabbed her phone, not checking the caller.

A deep voice was heard through the phone. “I thought you wouldn’t pick up; I guess you miss me as
much as I miss you”

Hearing that voice, Damilola didn’t say a word. In disgust she cut the call, and continued her movie.

Few minutes later, another call came through, angrily, she grabbed her phone without checking the
caller. “If you don’t stop calling me, I am going to stick your legs up your throat. What the heck is
your problem?”

There was silence on the other end, till finally a deep British accented voice was heard over the
phone.

“Be here by 8pm.” He said.
Hearing Richard’s voice, Damilola’s face became pale. Did she just say all that to Richard? Damn.

“I wasn’t referring to you when I said what I ……….” The call was cut off.

Damilola stared at her phone in a daze. She definitely wasn’t going anywhere with Richard today,
not after what she just said.

She slumped back on her chair, with her hands on her face. She was done for.

“What’s the matter? Was it Leo again?” Clara asked.

“It was Richard”

“What? Damn.” She replied shocked.

“I am so not going for that dinner.”

Damilola said resolutely, as she sat back.

The time was 7:30pm when she received a text message from Richard.

“You’d better get dressed and be on your way right now.” Damilola ignored the message.

Another message came in a second later. “Don’t think of ignoring my message. Get up.”

Seeing that, she began checking around her house to see if it was bugged.

Was he a fortune teller or what?
Finally, she got dressed and took a cab to the hotel, since her car was faulty.

On getting to Richard’s suite, she found out his belongings had been packed. He was finally leaving.
But why does she feel sad knowing that?

Richard came out a while later and walked out.

Damilola immediately stood up and followed after him.

In about an hour, they were at their destination.

They were led into the large mansion, as Mr Bankole came over to usher them inside.

“Welcome to my abode Mr Richard”

“Thank you for inviting me,” he replied.

“You look beautiful as always, Miss Alex” he said turning towards Damilola”

“Thank you, sir” she said.

“Please come in,” he gestured for them to come in, as they followed him into the house.

The house was beautifully decorated, that Damilola couldn’t help but appreciate its beauty.

They were guided to the dining room where they sat. A lot of mouth-watering and expensive food
were served on the table.

“I didn’t know what you two would like, so, I asked the kitchen to cook everything I could think of,
hope you don’t mind?” he asked.

“It’s no problem,” Richard replied.
At that moment, Mr Bankole’s four children and wife filed out and joined them at the table. He had two boys and two girls. The oldest one, of which was a girl looked a little older than Damilola.

“This are my children” he said pointing at them.

“This is Folake, my first child” he said pointing at the oldest. Folake stretched forth her hands for a
handshake, with a smile. She was slim and very beautiful, she had long legs and coyly hair, she looked a lot like a model.

He introduced the second one who was a guy, “he is Tobi, my second child”. Tobi was extremely
handsome, Damilola almost couldn’t take her eyes off him.

“Nice meeting you, Mr Tobi” Damilola said.

“Oh! Call me Tobi, the Mr is kinda weird.” He said with a beautiful smile.

He introduced the remaining two, their names were Temi and Seun. They were twins.

Finally, he introduced his wife, “This is my beautiful wife, Tinuke”

Damilola stared at the drop dead gorgeous woman. It seems looking beautiful and young was
something common in this house.

After introducing his family, Mr Bankole introduced Richard and Damilola.

Immediately the introduction ended, they began eating. Afterwards, they went to the living room for a chat. Richard excused himself to take a call.

“So, Miss Alex, which Nigerian state are you from?” Bankola asked.

“My mom is from Ekiti, but I was born in Lagos and I spent the first 8 years of my life there.”

“Wow! Cool. We are from Ekiti too.”

“Really, which part?”

“Ikere”

“Same here, sir”

“Wow!”

“Which state is your dad from?”

Tinuke asked.

Hearing her question, Damilola’s face became pale.

“My dad isn’t Nigerian.” She said.

“Where is he from?” Folake asked.

“He is American”.

Engrossed in their talk, no one took notice of the man who was standing few metres away from
them, watching them and listening to their conversation.

“Cool.” Folake replied.

“Since when have you been in America.” Folake asked again.

“16 years. I have lived here for 16 years.”

“Nice. I must say, you are really pretty”. Folake said. She noticed Damilola wasn’t comfortable with
the questions, so, she changed the topic.

“Thanks for the compliment. You are actually beyond pretty” Damilola replied. Hearing that, Folake
smiled.

“How about you?”

“What about me?” Folake asked, confused. Do you live here?”

“No, not at all. We only came over for a vacation. We have lived in Nigeria all our lives.”

“Cool. I actually miss home. Nowhere like home you know,”

“That’s right.”

Damilola kept looking at the door, hoping for Richard to come over and rescue her. What was taking
him so long?

Damilola was about to give them an excuse and escape to the toilet, when an old man walked in. He looked like he was in his 90s but still had the energy of someone in his 70s.

Moments after he walked in, Richard came in.

Seeing the man before him, he was shocked.
