Chapter 18: - Drunk.
"Mr Williams?" Richard said to himself.
"Dad, I didn't know you were awake." Bankole said.
The old man took a look at his son for a while then walked towards Damilola.
"Hi, Miss Hall. I have heard a lot about you," he said.
Damilola stared at the man in shock. What was she supposed to do now? How should she greet him?
Taking a closer look at him, she realized who he was the popular business mogul named Babajide Williams.
"A good evening to you, sir. It's a pleasure meeting you" Damilola replied.
"You are even more beautiful than I expected. You surpassed the high standard I already had for you." He said with a smile as he took a seat.
Richard sat too after a while.
"Mr McCall, how do you do?" he asked Richard.
"I am doing well, sir," he replied.
They exchanged pleasantries for a while and one talk led to another, then finally the collaboration was brought up.
Richard began telling the man reasons why he should collaborate with them and the benefits he would receive.
After a while of some boring chats, he signed the contract.
Eventually, it was time to say goodbye.
Mr Williams said, "Mr McCall, Miss Hall. Thanks for coming. I hope to see more of you."
"Thanks for having us here and we hope to see more of you too." Richard replied.
"By the way, you didn't tell me your Nigerian name, Miss Hall, or is you real name Alexandra Hall?"
Damilola stared at him in silence for a while and said with a forced smile, "I am Alex here. That's all that matters."
"That's right" Babajide said resolutely, noticing Damilola was pulling her guards up already.
"Goodnight, it is then. Have a nice trip home," Bankole said.
Damilola dragged herself into her house after being dropped off by Richard. Today was such a terrible day. She was reminded of how sad she had lived.
About an hour after being dropped off, she took a walk around and ended up at a bar.
A lot was going through her mind, Richard leaving and she being reminded of her dark past. She
wanted nothing more but to just drink away her sorrows. After taking different shots of alcohol, she walked out of the bar, drunk.
She walked for a long while, then finally took a trip to the hotel.
She didn't actually know what brought her there.
About to leave, she caught a glimpse of James walking around the hotel.
He walked up to her immediately he took notice of her.
"Alex?" he said.
"Yes that's me" she replied with a smile.
No one would have been able to figure out that she was drunk, if not for the deep stench of alcohol coming from her.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Just chilling. Wanna join me?" She asked.
Not receiving a reply, she dragged him anyway. "I won't take no for an answer" she said with a smile.
