"Ahh!"
"Stay still, Hina. Or this is just gonna hurt more. Gotta loosen it with my fingers first..."
"Y-y/n, I can't, urgh!!"
"It's almost done, shh."
"Y/n! Ah! Agh, mh!!"
"...This is very misleading," Takemichi mumbled, cheeks tad flushed as he watched you comb out Hina's hair.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!!" she cried as you carefully went through with your fingers first.
"Jesus Christ, what did you do to get your hair like this? It's a bird nest, girl," you said through hints of laughs.
Hina had made it over to get help with her Yukata in preparation for the festival this evening. You had dressed her up already, but her hair was the bigger problem.
"Now, stay still," you instructed as you efficiently wrapped her hair around the ornate stick. It was a traditional hairpin used to secure buns in place. The pink flowers suited her very well.
"And finished," you announced, turning the girl around to face the mirror. She gasped before springing up to hug you.
"I look amazing! Thank you so, so much y/n!! Takemichi, take pictures! Hurry!!" she exclaimed, running over to her friend. He sighed before flipping his phone open.
"Now, should we head out?" you asked, gathering the various equipment used for Hina's get-up. But upon turning around, the two kids had faces of disappointment and shock.
"Y/n... aren't you gonna wear a Yukata, too..?" Takemichi asked with a shaky voice. Hina nodded next to him.
"Me..?" you said, pointing to yourself. They quickly nodded, looking at you with glossy eyes. You struggled but was quick to give up. "Okay, fine. Wait for me, would you?"
"Yes!!" they yelled, high-fiving each other while you turned to the closet.
There, on the top corner shelf, was a specially prized box. It held a familiar Yukata, previously worn by someone dear. You never had the courage to wear it, but today was the day.
Draping yourself with fabric, you asked Takemichi for assistance with the back. It was a secret between him and Hina just how red his face turned when he saw your exposed nape.
Turning towards the mirror, you grinned at the finished look. It was still a bit big, but it brought back memories. And for some reason, you thought you could smell his scent all around.
'I've grown big enough to fit, Shin,' you thought to yourself.
'So how come you're not here to see it?'
~~~
"Fuucckk..." you sighed under your breathe, watching Draken and Emma walking ahead of you. Takemichi and Hina were off doing some shooting game, and you felt too awkward to fit in with the other two.
Munching on your second dango stick, you looked around the colorful festival. The scenery was just the same as the last time you were here, except that you were in a yukata for once.
'...I finally got the heart to wear it, Shin,' you said to yourself, smiling while gazing at your own outfit. The wooden getta shoes were still a bit big, but it felt right.
"Hey, y/n! Hurry up!" Draken called, Emma pouting at his diverted attention. You walked up to them and sighed, before slightly nudging Emma towards the blond.
"Hey! Wha- uh, hehe?" Emma complained before nervously chuckling when she found herself in Draken's arms. You secretly winked at her with a knowing smile.
Her eyes were dropping hearts when she gazed at the blond. You wondered if you looked the same before he left.
Walking past the two, you whispered to her with a sad smile.
"Don't fail like I did."
She looked at you puzzled, but you just kept walking forward. You smiled as you heard the two bickering behind. It reminded you of the past - when Shin was here.
You shook your head, trying to empty your thoughts. You didn't want to be all gloomy and reminiscent at a festival. You were supposed to celebrate!
"Hey, Draken, buy us takoyaki over there!" you said, pulling on his sweater like a whiny brat. He looked at you startled before Emma joined in, hugging your arm and doing the puppy eyes.
"Ugh, fucking... fine!" he yelled, trotting over to the takoyaki stand angrily. You and Emma glance at each other before giggling like twins.
Winking, you whispered, "Go ahead with Draken. I'll wait for our takoyaki and catch up to you."
"Really?" Emma said, grateful sparkles in her eyes. You laughed, nodding.
She ran over to Draken and pulled him away from the stand, walking off further away. Draken looked back at you questioningly, but you just waved him off with a mischievous smile.
"Y/n, you-!!" Draken screamed before completely disappearing from your sight.
You laughed, before hitting up an interesting conversation with the takoyaki stand owner. He started talking about where he was from, how he got into making takoyaki, his past relationships, and so on. It was pretty interesting, that you didn't realize time had passed so fast.
Receiving the 2 and a half takoyaki bowls (the half given to you as a free bonus), you jogged over to find Draken and Emma. As the rain started to pour down, the floor was increasingly getting slippery for your getta sandals.
"Where are they-" you were saying to yourself, trying to shield the takoyakis from the downpour. But when you turned your head to the far right, you saw the two familiar figures...
...surrounded by Moebius members.
Fuck.
It's my sole motivation :')A/N
I'm thinking of pushing forward the 'Hina x Emma' ship, but I have to build up to it. We really want Draken as a love interest, right? Not just me, right..?
