AUSTIN'S POV
I hadn't heard or seen Katelyn since we got back from The Hamptons and I was scared for her, just in case he had done something to her. We were in New York for Wrestlemania week, I was trying to keep my head in the game and focusing on my upcoming match against Johnny Gargano, but my mind kept flitting back to Katelyn. All I wanted to know was that she was okay. She was currently embroiled in the rivalry between Drew and Roman Reigns, leading to their match at Mania. I'm hoping that Roman beats his ass, which he most likely will do with it being his first match back.
I was sat in the hotel bar with a bunch of the NXT guys when I saw her walk in and head to the bar. I quickly excused myself from the group and made my way over to the bar myself, but the other end, so that if Drew was anywhere nearby, it wouldn't look suspicious. I felt my phone vibrate in my jeans pocket, so I took it out and read the text.
Kate: You look handsome tonight. I miss you xo
I typed back a reply.
Me: I miss you so much. You always look amazing, even right now, from across the bar xx
I watched as she read my reply and looked up, searched the room for me and then made her way over to my side, giving me a big hug. I chuckled.
'What's this in aid of?' I asked, after ordering another round of drinks for the table and one for Katelyn.
'I just miss you. I haven't been able to call or text because I've been with him 24/7. Things have gotten really bad, but in public we are the perfect couple. It's making me sick. I'm going to keep him on side for a little while longer and then, when he finally slips up big time, I leave with AJ.'
'You have it all figured out, huh?'
'Yeah. This is it. A few more months and we can be together, I promise. Right, in a few minutes, Drew will probably come looking for me, so I'm going to cause a huge scene in front of everyone.' I chuckled again, not knowing what to say or do. I don't know why, but I was beginning to get the feeling that I was being played. Katelyn wasn't going to leave Drew, it just seemed like some big game that they both played to get off. I grabbed the tray of drinks that the barkeep put in front of me and walked away, back to my friends. I saw Drew stood by the entrance, looking like a lion ready to attack his prey as he stormed towards his wife. I quickly got back to my table, put the tray down and sat down next to Kyle and watched the show begin.
'How did I know you'd be down here with him?' Drew shouted at Katelyn, yanking her by the arm, making her call out in pain.
'Let go of me,' she shouted back, hitting him on the chest. The barman came from behind the bar and ordered Drew to leave, not that he did.
'What the fuck has it got to do with you, huh? Leave us well enough alone.' He shoved the barman with his free hand and Katelyn screamed louder as I could see Drew's grip getting tighter around Katelyn's arm. I stood up, knocking my beer over, along with Kyle, Bobby, Roddy and Marina.
'Drew, let her go,' Marina pleaded with him, walking towards the couple. 'You're hurting her.'
'Good,' Drew fired back. 'Maybe then she will realise how much I'm hurting.'
'You can't be hurting that much if you're fucking half the female roster,' I heard myself say. Drew instantly let go of Katelyn, stormed towards me and got right up in my face.
'What did I tell you, Jenkins? Leave my wife alone,' he screamed in my face.
'You're gonna get what's coming to you, I can promise you that,' I said. 'And it's nothing to do with me. You did it all by yourself. I'm going to bed,' I announced to the group, gave a half smile to Katelyn and left the bar.
The next morning, I awoke to my cell phone ringing constantly. What was so important that somebody was calling me at 6am? I grabbed my cell from the bedside table.
'Hullo?' I said, groggily.
'Dude, you have to get down here fast,' Bobby replied. 'The press have somehow found out about what happened last night and it's all online. Vince and Hunter have gone mad. There's a big meeting with everyone, like now, so get your ass downstairs. We're in the boardroom.' He clicked off. I sat up, tossed my phone onto the bed, then quickly got out of bed, threw on some sweatpants and a muscle shirt, grabbed my phone and room key and headed downstairs.
'Ah, Austin, good of you to finally join us,' Hunter said, grimly, when I entered the boardroom. Fish wasn't lying when he said that the entire roster was here. I looked around the room for Katelyn, my eyes settling on the small, pink haired woman in a dark hoodie and sunglasses. I willed her to look at me, but she just stared at the table.
'Last night, there was an incident in the bar which has been reported about in the press,' Vince started. 'I don't know who or how, but it was leaked by somebody in this room. I have my suspicions as to who leaked the story, but I'm giving that person the chance to come clean right now.' Vince paused for a moment or two and looked around at everyone. Nobody spoke, so Vince continued. 'Okay, let me make this easier. Whoever leaked this story had better say now otherwise they will find themselves without a job come Monday morning.' I looked around again and was shocked when Dakota Kai stood up.
'It was me,' she said. 'I was in an abusive relationship before I signed with WWE and nobody helped me get out. I thought if I leaked the story, then it would make more people aware that it does happen. Katelyn, I'm so sorry. I never meant for you to get hurt.' Dakota hugged Katelyn as way of an apology. I moved towards Dakota and Katelyn, when somebody pulled me back. I turned and saw Joe holding onto my shirt.
'Leave it,' he growled. I shrugged out of his grip. 'I know you want to know she's okay, but leave it.'
'Drew ain't gonna do shit with everyone here.' When I got to Katelyn, I bent down beside her and consoled her. 'Daft question, but are you okay?' She looked at me through her sunglasses and looked away. 'You don't have to say anything, but please let me know that you're okay.' Katelyn sat stoicly, not looking at me.
'It's nothing, I slipped and fell in the shower.' I reached out and touched her arm.
'Don't touch me,' she spat, pulling her arm away from me.
'Austin, I think it's best if you leave,' Vince suggested.
'Yeah, get the fuck out of here,' Drew said. 'Nobody wants you here.'
'Fuck you. You might have everyone else here fooled, telling them that Katelyn slipped in the shower, but you'll come unstook and people will begin to see you for what you are,' I replied, standing up and looking him in the eye. 'You're a wife beater.'
'Shut up,' Drew growled. 'You don't know what you're talking about.'
'Oh, so I wasn't taken to hospital on Christmas Day because you'd attacked me and inadvertently injured your wife? You're a thug and the sooner Katelyn and AJ are away from you, the better.'
'Austin, just leave. I'm staying here with Drew.' She took her sunglasses off, looked me in the eye and said the words that I was dreading. 'We will never be together. The sooner you realise that, the better. Leave me alone.' I looked around the room and walked out, before anybody could say another word to me.
That afternoon, after spending most of the morning crying, I had calmed down a little and the guys and I went to 5th Avenue to buy new suits for the Hall of Fame ceremony that night. I had already got a suit, but I think it was the guys' way of keeping my mind from the morning's events. We were in the Dior store when my cell phone rang.
'Hello,' I answered.
'Dont say anything, just listen,' came Katelyn's voice. 'I'm sorry about earlier, I needed him to think that we have fallen out. My plan is in motion. I love you. See you tonight.' With that, she ended the call. I put my phone back in my pocket and sank down on the bench in the fitting room.
'What's up dude?' Kyle asked, modeling a burgundy tux.
'Nothing,' I answered, forcing a smile.
'Mate, forget about her,' Bobby said, walking our of his changing room in a dark blue crushed velvet tux. He knew exactly what was wrong, seeing as he was currently going through a divorce. 'I don't like seeing you like this. You're all hung up over her and it's kinda sad to see bro.' I looked up at my faction mates, tears brimming over.
'She said that she meant what she said, that we will never be together,' the lie and tears fell freely. I didn't care. My heart was broken. 'I love her, I mean the sort of love where I would kill for her if she asked me to.'
'God, you sound like a teenage girl,' Roddy joked as he came out of his changing room in a navy blue tux. I chuckled slightly.
'Rod, you should know what I'm talking about. Surely you're still head over heels in love with Marina.'
'Well yeah, of course I am. Listen, you want my advice because, clearly, Fish's didn't work. Ease off a while, go to the Hall of Fame ceremony tonight, flirt with some girls and make sure that she sees you doing so. If she loves you like she keeps claiming she does, it will make her jealous and she will change her mind.'
'Why not ask Tegan if she wants to go with you?' Kyle suggested. I pulled out my phone and dialled a number, hoping that they would answer.
I had just stepped out of the shower when there was a knock on my hotel room door. Quickly wrapping a towel around my waist, I exited the bathroom and opened the door.
'Hey,' I smiled. 'Thanks for coming.'
'No problem,' Britt replied. I closed the door behind her and ushered her into the bedroom. 'I was in the city anyway, a few of us are going to Mania on Sunday and I have a couple of shoots. I was actually surprised to hear from you, given how things ended.'
'You do know why I'm doing this, right?'
'Yeah. Not that I agree with it, but if it helps you get the girl, then I don't mind. I hope we can be friends after this.'
'I'd like that,' I smiled. 'You look really nice, by the way. I'm gonna get myself ready, so feel free to chill and help yourself to anything from the minibar.'
'Thanks Austin.' I grabbed the Armani suit bag that was lay on the bed, along with some boxers and socks out of my suitcase and started heading into the bathroom. 'You're getting changed in there? We're not 14, y'know. Besides, I've seen you naked before.' I sighed, put the suit bag back on the bed, slipped my boxers on underneath my towel and put my socks on. I removed my towel and draped it over the radiator, then proceeded to take my new tux out of its bag. 'Nice suit,' Britt grinned as I buttoned up my crisp white shirt, leaving the top two buttons undone. After putting on my shoes, I quickly brushed my hair, putting it up in a bun, and spritzed myself with some cologne.
'Ready?' I asked Britt, after I grabbed my cell, room key and wallet off the bedside table, then putting on my tuxedo jacket.
'Sure,' she smiled, taking my arm. We exited my hotel room and headed for the elevator, bumping into Dolph Ziggler.
'Hey guys,' Dolph chirped. 'You meeting Drew and Kate downstairs?'
'Yeah,' I answered, pressing the button to call for the elevator. 'I think Adam and Alexa are meeting them too. We should probably take 2 cars.'
'Yeah, I can go with Adam and Bliss, if you want?'
'Sure. Sounds good.' The three of us stepped into the elevator and it began its descent.
'Where's your boys?'
'They're meeting us there. We couldn't all get booked into the same hotel, so they're staying down the block.' The doors opened and in stepped Dean, Renee, Seth and Becky. I gave them all a smile. Turning to Britt, I asked her if she was okay and she nodded, squeezing my arm gently.
The rest of the ride down to the lobby was peppered with small talk, mainly which match everyone was looking forward to over the weekend. When the doors opened again, once we had made it down to the lobby, I couldn't help but look for her. I let out a small sigh when I realised that they weren't down yet. I didn't know how I was going to get through this evening, especially without alcohol. I heard the elevator ding and turned around to see Drew and Katelyn walking towards us. My eyes went straight to Katelyn. She looked stunningly beautiful in a purple dress, which contrasted her pink hair and tanned skin perfectly.
'Damn girl, you are looking fine,' I said, knowing that it would piss Drew off. She smiled and thanked me, then Adam made a joke about Drew punching well above his weight when it came to his wife. I mean, he ain't lying, but I wouldn't have phrased it that way. I saw Katelyn's face change when she saw who was stood on my arm.
The ride to the Barclays Center was awkward, Dolph 'suggested' that Britt and I ride with Drew and Katelyn, so we did. I sat between Britt and Kate, while Drew sat in the front seat with the driver. Katelyn had her hand on my thigh, extremely close to my groin, the entire time she made small talk with Britt. I had to commend Britt for being so cool with the entire situation. When we arrived at the arena, Drew was the first one out of the car. He opened Katelyn's door and practically dragged her from the vehicle. I wanted to cuss him out for hurting her in public, but there was press, fans and other superstars milling around. I thanked the driver, climbed out of the car and then turned to help Britt out too.
'Adam, Adam, are you and Britt back together?' A journalist shouted. Britt linked arms with me and we approached the journalist.
'No, Adam and I are not back together,' Britt answered his question. 'We are here as friends, which is what we are.'
'Is there any truth in the rumor that you are the reason for Drew and Katelyn McIntyre's martial problems?'
'Maybe you should ask him what their problems are,' I snapped. 'C'mon Britt, let's go.' I turned on my heel and stalked into the arena, heading straight for the bar. 'Beer and a whisky chaser please,' I said to the barman when he got to me. 'Oh, and a vodka soda aswell.' After the barman had given me the drinks, I downed the whisky, picked up the other two drinks and went in search of Britt. After a few minutes of searching, I saw her talking to Katelyn outside the doors to the ladies room, so I made a beeline for them.
'Talking about me?' I joked, once I got to the two women.
'Of course,' Katelyn grinned. I handed Britt her drink and she excused herself, saying that she wanted a quick chat with Candace LaRea.
'So, what were you talking about?' I asked Katelyn, using my free hand to pull her into the shadows of a huge potted plant.
'Britt was just asking how AJ was doing and if everything that was reported online was true.'
'We need to get you out of there baby girl. One day he will seriously harm you or he could turn on AJ. I don't want that. I meant what I said. I will protect you, so will Bobby, Kyle, Roddy and Marina. As will the entire NXT locker room. Why not ask to come back down to NXT in the next draft? I'm sure Vince and Hunter will allow it, especially now they both know what's going on.'
'Meet me for lunch on Monday and we will talk then. I will message you with a time and place, somewhere private. I don't want to talk about it here. You don't know who is actually listening.' I quickly checked that the disabled bathroom was empty and pulled Katelyn inside, locking the door behind me.
'Now we can talk.' I crossed the small room and sat on the sink unit.
'I have a plan. It will take a few months to play out, but then we can be together. I know Drew is hiding something from me, I don't know what, but I get the feeling that it's something major. The signs are there. Anyway, I put the plan into action tonight and we take it from there.' Katelyn looked at me, awaiting my reply.
'Baby girl, I don't know how much longer I can wait. I want us to be together now. I love you, but I feel like I'm being fobbed off again.'
'What are you saying Austin? Is this because we didn't fuck the other week? Blame your buddies for that, not me.'
'Kate, this isn't about the sex. I don't care about that...'
'Really? Are you telling me that you wouldn't take me right here, right now if I asked you to?'
'Are you asking me?' Katelyn walked to me, positioned herself in between my legs and kissed me, her hand on my groin. Within seconds, we had changed positions, sat on the sink unit and I was buried deep inside her. Oh fuck, I thought. Man, I'm not gonna be able to last long. There was a knock on the bathroom door.
'Dude,' came Bobby's voice. Are you fucking kidding me? My mind screamed. 'Drew is looking for Katelyn, so you guys best get out here.' The dude is such a cock block.
'Hold him off for a few minutes Bob,' I replied through gritted teeth.
'Sure thing.' Katelyn giggled.
'Just a few minutes, huh?'
'Baby girl, do you know how long I have waited to fuck you? I'm actually surprised that I haven't cum already.'
'Are we theorising about doing this or are we actually doing this?'
'Katelyn, you deserve better than a quick fumble in a bathroom. Can you sneak out tonight? Come to my room and I'll show you what I can really do.' Katelyn put her hand between her thighs and guided me out of her, then hopped off the sink, pulled her panties back up, kissed me on the lips and said she would be there.
'I'm gonna go out first, then you go, okay? Give you a little time to sort your problem out.' With that, Katelyn swiftly left the bathroom, not even giving me time to zip my pants back up. I locked the door again and stood over the sink, stroking myself. I could smell her perfume lingering on my skin and in the air. It didn't take me long to shoot my load, not with her promise of coming to me later. After I had done, I zipped up my pants, cleaned up the mess and left the bathroom.
All throughout the night, I could feel Katelyn watching me, which I could tell angered Drew, but being filmed live, he couldn't do or say anything. It didn't stop him from grabbing her hands in his, not knowing that only a few hours before, his wife's hands had been around my cock. That thought alone made me stand at half mast. I stood up, excusing myself, when I heard a very familiar song play throughout the arena. I turned towards the ring, which was being used as the stage for the Hall of Fame ceremony, and saw Katelyn's bandmates walking down the ramp and into the ring.
'Ladies and gentlemen, we've been asked here tonight as a favour to our good friend, Triple H,' Charlie began.
'As you are all fully aware, the last 2 years have been the best, and worst, for one of WWE's rising stars,' Josh said.
'Rumours have been rife over the last few weeks about why there is no celebrity inductee this year, but I can guarantee you there is. Not only is she one of the best singers in the world, she's also the best wife and mum. You all know her as Katelyn McIntyre, but to us she will always be little Kate from Ayr, Scotland,' Maxx said. I stood in the aisle, rooted to the spot, and looked over at Katelyn, who appeared to be in shock. 'Katelyn, you are an inspiration to women all over the globe and I'm so proud to call you my best friend. You have overcome so much in the 2 years since you debuted in NXT. You reconnected, and married, Drew, you have a gorgeous little boy at home, but most of all, you've endured abuse that would've rendered others useless. Katelyn, we have one more surprise for you.' Triple H's theme played and Hunter came down to the ring.
'Katelyn, Maxx isn't wrong when he says you're an inspiration,' Hunter began. 'I hope and pray that my girls at home grow up to be as strong and as fearless as you are. You've become an inspiration to millions worldwide. That's why I'm so proud to announce that this year's celebrity Hall of Fame inductee is none other than our very own Katelyn McIntyre.' Katelyn stood up, along with everybody in attendance, kissed Drew and made her way towards me, accepting hugs from Becky, Alexa, Marina, Britt, Bobby and Kyle. When she reached me, she burst into tears and hugged me tightly, her head cradled in the crook of my neck.
'Are you okay, baby girl?' I whispered to her. I felt her nod her head. I looked over at Drew, who looked like he was ready to kill me and smirked. 'Go and accept your ring. You deserve it.' Katelyn let go of me, gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and walked towards the ring. I quickly ran out of the auditorium and headed for the nearest restroom, wanting to get rid of this boner. Locking myself in the stall, I heard the door open and someone walk in.
'I know you're in here Jenkins, probably wanking over my wife, so be a man and get out here,' I heard Drew say. I took a deep breath, unlocked the stall door and stepped out to see Drew stood in the center of the room.
'Hang on, your wife is out in the arena right now, being inducted into the hall of fame and you're in here? What a dick you are. You really have no love for Kate anymore, do you?'
'How can I love someone who is in love with somebody else? We were doing just fine until you came into our lives. She just had to fall in love with you.'
'Hey, it could be worse. She could've fallen for Kyle or Bobby,' I joked. Drew chuckled slightly. 'Drew, I have to ask you. Why not just let her go?'
'So she can run straight to you?'
'That's not what I'm implying. I mean, you're miserable, Kate is miserable and heaven knows what all this fighting between the two of you is doing to little AJ.'
'I do, no, I did love Katelyn. When we got together again, she wasn't the same girl I fell in love with all those years ago, but she reminded me of my mum, of home and I had to stay.' The bathroom door opened and in walked Kyle and Bobby.
'We wondered where you had gotten to,' Bobby said, shrugging his shoulders.
'Making sure you hadn't killed each other more like,' Kyle laughed. 'Drew, Katelyn is looking for you. She's just finishing up her speech.'
'Okay, thanks.' With that, Drew left the small restroom.
'What the hell?' Bobby exclaimed.
'He came in here looking for a fight, but we talked. I think he's beginning to realise that I'm not going anywhere and that I won't give up fighting for her.'
'You really do love her, don't you?'
'Yeah, I honestly do.'
After the event was over, Britt and I walked the 3 blocks back to her hotel in relative silence. I could tell she wasn't best pleased with me ditching her for most of the night, but I think Drew and I may have turned a corner. As I walked her into the main lobby, she turned to me and hugged me.
'What was that for?' I asked, when she let me go.
'Look after her, Austin. She's a beautiful, strong woman, but she's also more delicate than you realise. Love her with all your being and never give up until she is yours.' I was taken aback by Britt's words. 'Katelyn told me that she's frightened of what he may do next, that he may hurt AJ and, if he does, then she's out of there. Thank you for tonight. I really think we can be friends.' Britt kissed me on the cheek and walked into the hotel, whereas I hailed a cab and went back to my hotel. I couldn't wait to see what tomorrow might bring.
