I stood in the crowd at a sold out Barclays Center in Brooklyn, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. It had been rumoured for a few weeks that I had signed with WWE, but I had downplayed any rumors that came my way. In the ring, Drew McIntyre had just beaten Bobby Roode for the NXT title and was celebrating with his girlfriend/manager, Katelyn, a short woman, maybe around 5ft 4, with pastel pink hair and a nice set of tits. Really nice, I thought. I watched as Drew noticed my old buddies Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly stood in the corner. He whispered something in Katelyn's ear, probably telling her to get out of the ring. That was my cue. Pushing through the crowd, I jumped the barrier, slid into the ring behind Drew and attacked him from behind. The crowd was going insane that I was finally here. I started to beat him down, Fish and O'Reilly climbing into the ring and helping me beat him up until he was flat on the canvas. I flung off my black blazer, tossing it out of the ring, pulled the hair tie out of my hair and called for Fish and O'Reilly to get him up onto his feet. Throwing a wink to Katelyn, I hit Drew with a superkick and watched him fall to the canvas again. I walked over to the corner where the NXT title was lay, picked it up and walked back over to Drew's body, lifting the title in the air. The roar from the crowd was deafening. Katelyn had gotten back into the ring, glaring at me, yelling that I didn't belong here. Motioning to Bobby and Kyle, the three of us left the ring and started walking up the ramp. Katelyn left the ring again, walked up to me and slapped me across the face. Man, that stung like a bitch. And was kind of a turn on.
'You think you're a big man, huh?' Katelyn yelled, getting right up in my face. I gave her my signature smirk and replied, 'bigger than your boyfriend sweetheart.' I gave her a wink, then said, 'if you ever get bored of Scottie over there, you know where to find me.' Turning on my heel, I walked up the ramp, posed with Bobby and Kyle, then walked through the curtain to the holding area. Kyle said something about going to the locker room, but I wasn't really listening, I was waiting for this vixen to come backstage. Yes, I know I have a girlfriend and I'm very fond of Britt, but we no longer have that spark. I definitely felt something with Katelyn.
'What's wrong with you dude?' Kyle asked when he walked back to the holding area to where me and Bobby were stood, texting away.
'Huh? Me?' I answered, breaking out of my reverie.
'Yeah, you. You're wound up worse than a toy car on Christmas. What's got you so flustered?'
'Nothing.' I shook my head. Noticing Katelyn and Drew walking back through the curtain, a huge round of applause went up for the new champ and he did the rounds, thanking everyone. I walked over to where Katelyn was stood, beaming with pride at her fiancé. 'Hi, Katelyn, isn't it? I just wanted to apologise for what I said out there. I know it wasn't scripted and I shouldn't have said it, so I hope you accept my apology.'
'Don't sweat it,' she replied, her smile lighting up as she spoke. 'All's fair in love and wrestling.'
'Well, we all have a role to play,' I grinned back, offering her my hand, which she shook, then turn around to smile at Drew again, who was soaking in the praise from the guys on the roster. There's that jolt of electricity again. 'I'm Austin, and that's Bobby and Kyle.' I quickly pointed to each of them in turn. Drew joined Katelyn and I congratulated him on his big win.
'Way to debut dude,' he said to me. He looked slightly pissed, like he could read my thoughts. Damn, I hope not, otherwise he would kick my ass right now. I suddenly felt envious that he was touching her.
'Thanks, and congrats on the win. I'll be coming for that at some point.' Johnny Gargano shouted over that he was first in line. I laughed. No way was Johnny freaking Wrestling winning that title before me. I looked around the small area and realised that Katelyn had disappeared. Well, that was rude! She didn't even say goodbye.

Later that night, around 1am, I was sat in a booth at the hotel bar with Bobby, having a few beers before calling it a night. Britt, my girlfriend, was at home, packing to go back to medical school and I needed female company, fast. All I had thought about in the last few hours was that gorgeous pink haired woman who was probably being fucked into oblivion right now. That thought alone made me angry.
'You alright dude?' Bobby asked me, taking a swig from his beer bottle. 'You look a little tense.'
'Yeah, I'm good. Just thinking about something I shouldn't.' Bobby raised an eyebrow at me, his way of telling me to elaborate. I sighed and then continued. 'Have you ever met someone and feel like you found that missing piece of yourself?'
'Okay, we aren't talking about Britt here because, let's face it, she's a bitch and you need to dump her ass. Who?'
'McIntyre's girl.'
'Ah, the one with the huge tits? Yeah, I can see that. She's a fiery one. Hot too.'
'It's weird because I've never thought about being with anyone else, but now I'm even questioning my relationship with Britt.'
'FINALLY!' Bobby joked. 'No, in all seriousness, she got to you this fast?' I took a long slug of my beer before replying.
'I really don't want to call it a crush because that's so high school, but I've been crushing on her for a while, since I first met her last year. Y'know she used to be in a band, right? Me and Kyle went to see them a couple of times.'
'Hang on, is this the same girl who you hooked up with in Chicago last summer?' I nodded.
'But we didn't have sex. We stayed awake and talked for hours, then we had an early breakfast and she left for the next town.'
'And she doesn't realise that was you?' I shrugged and took another slug of beer.
'I don't think she does. Or she didn't want her boyfriend to know, that's why she was being so coy at the arena just now.' Bobby looked over my shoulder and nodded for me to look too. Katelyn was at the bar, ordering a drink.
'Well, now could be your chance to talk to her. Looks like she's coming this way.' I quickly turned back around and downed the rest of my drink. I was only 3 beers in, so I wasn't drunk. Not even tipsy.
'Hey, mind if I join you?' Katelyn asked, standing to one side of the booth, a glass of iced water in hand. I glanced up at her and smiled. She looked all kinds of gorgeous, even though her hair was in a messy bun and she was wearing, what looked like Drew's, sweatpants and a Bon Jovi shirt.
'I'm just about to head off to bed, but Austin will keep you company,' Bobby said. Bobby got out of the booth and Katelyn slid into his spot. Just as he was leaving, Bobby whispered, 'You can thank me later.'
'Goodnight Bob,' I replied through gritted teeth. I ushered for the bartender to bring me another beer. 'Where's your boyfriend? Is he not joining you?' What is wrong with me? Fuck, I have it bad for this woman. All I want to do is bend her over this table and fuck her into next week.
'No, he's gone to bed. I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd come down and grab a drink.'
'How long have you been together?'
'Um, about 4 months. We went to uni and were together for 10 years, but we split up a few months before we were due to get married. How about you? What's your story?' Damn, so she was single when we met last year and I could've had a chance with her?
'I have a girlfriend, but it's nothing too serious. She's at med school, studying to be a dentist, but she also wrestles too. I don't see her very often.' It was really bugging me that she didn't seem to remember me at all, so I decided to see if she could recall it. 'Y'know, I used to come and see your band play. You guys were pretty awesome. Me and Kyle saw you in Chicago last year and I thought you have a beautiful voice.' I studied her face as her eyes widened, recollection kicking in.
'Oh my, that was you!' She giggled and took a drink of her water. 'It was annoying me so much. When I saw we you earlier, I thought I recognised you, but my brain is terrible for forgetting people. I'm so sorry, I'm rambling.'
'No, it's okay.' I reached across the table and touched her hand. 'Do you remember that night? I know I do, quite vividly. I just wished that it ended differently.' She looked at me and removed her hands from the table.
'Yeah, I remember that night, but I think I remember it a little differently to what you do.'
'How do you mean?'
'Austin, you pressured me into giving you head and when I said no, you got shirty with me.'
'That isn't what happened. I wouldn't do that.'
'You said in Detroit, right?'
'No, Chicago. We spent all night, sat by the hotel pool, talking about life and where we wanted to be in 10 years time.' Katelyn clicked her fingers.
'Oh yeah, I remember now. We got told off by concierge for splashing around, fully clothed, in the pool at 3am. I'm sorry, my memory isn't so good since my accident.'
'What happened?' Katelyn looked over my shoulder at something. I turned my head and saw Drew, stood in the entrance to the bar with his arms folded across his chest.
'It's a long story. Maybe another night.' She yawned and slid out of the booth. 'I should get back up to bed. I have an appointment in the morning, but how about we meet up for lunch? Bring Bobby and Kyle too, we can make it a group thing and then maybe take in a few sights?'
'Sure, sounds good. Give me your cell.' She handed me her cell phone and I quickly tapped my phone number into the device, saved it, then hit call so I could have her number and handed it back to her. She laughed when she saw the name I had saved it under. I stood up too, knowing that I should head to bed too, and gave Katelyn a quick hug, before saying goodnight.

That night I knew that I needed Katelyn in my life, no matter what it took.
