Chef was dumbfounded.

"Children, the Visitors must be trying to communicate with us!"

"Oh, I see. You're joining in on the little joke, huh?" The fat boy seethed.

"This is no joke, Children, this is big!"

Chef inspected the metal machine with some sort of eye at its peek. You were also quite interested, but Stan found it in his best interest to keep you from going near the damn thing.

"Aw c'mon! I wanna see it!"

"No."

Kyle stepped forward, hoping Chef would be willing to help in some way.

"Please, Chef. If I don't get my little brother back, my parents are going to disown me!"

"Ah.." Chef peeled his attention away from the machine and back towards your group of five.
"Hold on now..hold on.."

He pondered on what he could do to help, without getting himself fired.

But it was taking longer than expected, which made Kyle falter a little. You obviously noticed, and pulled your arm from Stan's hand.

"Y'know, if your parents disown you, you can stay with me!"

"I don't think your mom would like that"

You blinked and your upturned expression turned into one of deep thought. Your mom could barely tolerate the harmless stories you would tell at the dinner table. If she could barely handle that then you struggled to find a way she would let Kyle stay.

"Yeah, you're right. Never mind!"

"Wow, you're a lot of help" Kyle scoffed.

"Aw, thank you!"

"—I got it!" Chef's exclamation startled you. Guess he finally thought of something.

He walked over to the fire alarm and pulled down on the lever. An incessant ringing filled the cafeteria.

"Fire drill, everybody out!"

He turned to the five of you.

"Go, children"

You all did as he said, straying away from the overflowing line the other kids made and instead went out using the cafeteria exit.

You turned back and waved with all your strength.

"Thanks, Chef!"

He didn't seem to hear you though, he was more interested with the Visitors Kyle had been so adamant about. You guessed that was justifiable, Aliens were a big deal.

You were in front of the group kicking a pebble, but not in a bored way. You were actually the one most excited about seeing the visitors that took Kyle's baby brother, that was why you had raced ahead of the group on several occasions before realizing you didn't know where you were going.
