You knew you should've called him the minute it hit. You hadn't had a panic attack this bad in almost three years. Nothing was ever that triggering.Until your family had an ear deafening argument in the middle of the night.
Your cousin was staying the weekend, you guys weren't that close but it was never a big deal. Until she woke your mom up at four in the morning saying she wanted to get on a plane home right at that moment. You and Bucky had been friends for years. He saved you in DC before you almost got wiped out by a falling helicarrier.
Your cousin was yelling, your mom was shouting back. Her boyfriend was raising his voice in a home that wasn't his. You felt like you were suffocating. The air restricting from your lungs made you shoot up in bed. Throwing on a jacket and some shoes you grabbed your keys and walked out the door.
Everyone stopped to look at you but you just walked right through the pair of arguing bodies.
"I got to go." You mumbled, unlocking the door and getting in your car.
You started to breath heavier, the tears falling down your cheeks as you reversed, pulling from the driveway and onto the deserted road.
It was almost hard to drive. With tears clouding your vision and the feeling of a fifty pound weight on your chest. You knew you should've called him the minute it hit. You parked at the playground down the road from your house, pulling into a spare space.
Getting your phone out was hard. Your jaw was shaking and your loud sobs filled the quiet car.
With a unsteady pace you clicked on 'contacts', scrolling to his name, clicking 'call.'You hoped he was awake. He usually was. Bucky had insomnia. And unfortunately you did too. You might've not heard them shouting if you weren't awake reading.
Within a few rings you finally heard the receiver answer, hearing hard breathing in the back.
"Hello?" You cried, hearing his voice almost calm you down."Doll, what's wrong?"
You stuttered, trying to get a word out.
"Y/n, where are you?" You heard keys jingle in the background. You tried to answer, only letting out another sob as your jaw shook frantically.
"Never mind doll, i have your location. Stay on the line."
Within a few minutes you heard the roar of his motorcycle pull into the deserted park beside you.
You didn't bother to hang up the phone as you pulled open the car door, instantly slamming your body into Bucky's.
He wrapped his arms around your shoulders, bringing you closer as he nuzzled his chin into your air."It's okay. It's okay. Your okay," Bucky whispered as you cried even harder.
Your breathing wasn't slowing down and you felt like your body would give out any moment from the air you couldn't breathe.
"Alright doll. You gotta breath for me okay." He spoke, sitting you down on a spare bench under a dim light. The park at night should be scary and creepy. But you knew nothing would hurt you as long as Bucky was there.
"Rub your ear lobes, remember?" You nodded, rubbing your fingers over the soft skin. He taught you that after the first panic attack you had with him. Relaxing the muscles helped a little, but not fully.
"I- I can, can't breathe." You stuttered, falling into his side as you clung to the leather jacket he always wore.
"Tell me one thing you can see, doll." You looked around, "My car."
"And what does it look like?" You took in a shaky breath, knowing what he was doing.
"It's a Black Ford Escape."
"What does it feel like?"
"Smooth. Like cold plastic."
"What does it smell like?"
"That loco beach scent I always put in it."
"What does it sound like?"
You laughed a little, "Weird because the engine is shit."
You felt Bucky's chest lift as he chucked, "And what does it taste like?" You let out a genuine laugh, realizing you could breathe again.
Sitting up you took in Bucky's smile. His face instantly softened, taking your hand in his.
"What happened, doll. Are you okay? Are you hurt?"You shook your head, not needed him to think someone and hurt you. "You know that cousin that was staying with us?"
He nodded, you took a deep breath. "She wanted to leave at four in the morning on impulse so they all started arguing...loudly."
He nodded, pulling your body to his, "You don't need to say anymore. I've got you."
Another tear ran down your cheek as you hid your face in the crook of his neck, "Thank you, Bucky."
"Of course, doll. I'm always here. Always."
________________A/N: this was an actual scenario for me yesterday, besides being calmed down by Bucky. I wish.
But it helped me to write it all down. I swear my family is crazy but at least people get marvel content out of it
