Freshman Year

"Rus? Rus?"

He was suddenly pulled out of his thoughts as he zoned in to a pair of concerned green eyes looking back at him from the passenger seat.

"You were zoning out again. We're here."

Icarus looked out of the car window and noticed that indeed they have arrived.

Way to go Rus! First day of high school and you're already zoning out.

He chided himself while nodding at his sister.

His brother Beckham, a Sophomore, cleared his throat "since you are freshmen, I'll give you two a tour and remind you, well again, who to avoid."

"Yeah yeah Elio Miller this Elio Miller that we know Beck!" Rosalind exclaimed while getting out of the car, adjusting her navy blue knee length, her ponytail brushing her left elbow. She tilted her head sidewards to look at her twin Icarus who was currently looking around with a hint of anxiousness in his green eyes, his left hand fiddling with the buttons of his maroon shirt and his right hand pushing his brunet hair back.

"Rus" Rosalind put her left hand on Icarus' shoulder making him focus on her. Despite being fraternal, they looked mostly alike. "We share most of our classes remember? It's going to be okay. First days are always a jittery affair".

Icarus smiled softly at her revealing a dimple each on the corners of his mouth. They were so faint you could only notice them if you were looking unlike Rosalind's deeper one's.

"Let's go twinsies. Let your elder brother guide you through one of seven gates of hell!"

Beck enunciated pushing his hair off of his forehead, revealing his chocolate brown eyes, earning an eye roll from the twins.

"Beck, I am pretty sure half of the school didn't hear you can you get louder please?" Icarus commented following his brother alongside a snickering Rosalind.

"These are the lockers as you can see. Hope I was of help" Beck bowed down dramatically, ending the pretty much helpless tour.

"Yeah so helpful that I think I'll loose my way even before I attend my first class" Rosalind said leaning against her locker.

Icarus whose was few lockers down from her's was already unloading his bag.

"Looks like King has brought his Kinglings with him" Said a husky voice from behind.

All three kings turned around to the owner of the voice who was in a group of five.

"Miller" Beck gritted his teeth saying the name.

Rosalind leaned closer to her twin whispering in his ear "Elio Miller. Thats the one."

And Icarus remembered all too well. The number of times Beck came home late because he got a detention for getting in a fight with or pulling a prank on Miller. The number of times he answered the question "why you did this?" With that name. The many warnings both he and Rosalind received this very morning from him, all of those asking them to steer miles away from Elio Miller.

Elio Miller. A Sophomore with raven black hair and brown eyes. Icarus leaned his back against his locker and took him in.

He was fairly over six feet tall, merely taller than Beck who himself stood at 6'3". Even if Icarus tried to ignore him, he wouldn't be able to. Every thing about Elio Miller screamed authority. A face like his wasn't something you pass once and then forget. He was handsome. Beautiful even. A strong jaw and prominent cheekbones all aligned symmetrically around a sharp nose.

"Stay miles away from my siblings Miller. Miles away."

Beck's voice brought Icarus back. He looked back and forth between his brother and Elio, shuffling closer to his twin, gently placing his hand on her elbow. A nervous tic that he just realised followed him to his freshman year.

She looked back at him with a small smile and squeezed his hand.

"So now we have three Kings, as if one wasn't annoying enough."

The sound of bell stopped Beck from lunging at his nemesis, bringing his focus back to his siblings. Rosalind assured him they will be fine and that he should now leave for his classes with Icarus nodding along.

As everyone in the hallway started making their way to their respective classrooms, Icarus took one last look at Elio Miller who was already looking his way.

Their eyes met. Green met Brown. Elio smirked and winked at him causing him to yelp. He could feel his face heating up as he pointedly looked away and followed Rosalind to their shared first class with a strong feeling of sharp brown eyes focused on his back, mentally taking a note to follow his brother's warnings.

He should have known back then.
