"How do you do it, you got me losing every breath. What did you give me to make my heart beat out my chest?"

Chapter Three; Silence

Harry woke up tangled in his covers, and the room completely empty. He looked up frantically, but realized quickly that he was infact alone and that Louis had left. His alarm was buzzing and chirping loudly in his ear, and he smacked it to silence the obnoxious sound. The room fell dead silent, and Harry frowned to himself, running his fingers through his hair and yawning tiredly. He really hated being alone.

He didn't understand why Louis would leave, but in a way he knew he wouldn't stay. He grabbed his towel, pulled open his door and walked into the hallway towards the bathroom. He closed the door behind him, and turned the knobs on the shower; bringing the stream of flowing water to life. He then looked into the mirror, eyeing his tired appearance as he shook out his massively curly hair, and ran his fingers through it.

He sometimes wished he had eyes like Louis' because they were so bright and so beautiful. So many secrets swimming in those oceans and Harry just wanted to learn all of them... All of him. He was an older boy, but only by two years and that wasn't bad at all. Harry didn't know why he was attached to the older boy. He said things that hurt Harry's feelings a lot, but Harry just figured that, that was the way he was. He couldn't help it. But Harry wanted Louis too love him, because well... he was already falling and he could feel it.

It had been a short two months and some days, all spent with the chestnut haired boy. The boy who jumped off balconies, rode a motorcycle, Had tattoos that Harry wanted to trace and the boy who liked hanging off the edge of the world.

He brushed his teeth, and threw water on his face to wake himself up and also to clean the sleep from his eyes. He filled his mouth with mint mouthwash, gargling and spitting it into the round bowl in front of him.

When he finally got into the shower, it was perfectly warm and it ran it's fingers down his tired back and into his hair. He washed and scrubbed his body, blinking into the cascading water and pushing conditioner through his curly hair. It usually took him about 45 minutes to get completely ready for his day. Another couple minutes went by of him hugging himself under the warm water, before he was wrapping the towel around his waist and stepping out into the cold air.

He wrapped a towel around his dripping hair and walked into his room where he picked out a pair of black skinny jeans, and a plain white shirt. Harry really didn't try with his outfits because he was only going to highschool, and he had no one to impress there.

His body was dry within minutes, and as he got dressed; he wondered what Louis was doing and where he could possibly be right now. Why did Louis leave him alone? Why was Louis the way he was? and when would he leave again...

He went back to the bathroom to blow dry his hair and brush it out, before rushing to get his backpack and jumping down the stairs to be greeted with an empty living room and kitchen. He frowned before grabbing a banana, and walked to the front door.

Sitting at his feet was a single red rose, thorns covering almost the entire stem but Harry still bent down to grab it; like he did everyday. He winced as it pricked his finger, causing a little bubble of blood to form on his forefinger, and he winced.

"Aw, love." He turned to see Louis walking up to his porch with a smile. "Hurt yourself?" He smirked, his blue eyes shining in the pale light of morning. He had on a dark t-shirt, tight black pants that he rolled at the bottoms; which harry absolutely loved - and black vans covering his small feet. Harry loved that he didn't wear socks, because his ankles were perfect and he loved the way he pushed his hair off his forehead into a styled quiff and the way he was now reaching for Harry's hand to clean up the small wound.

Harry wanted to smile, but he didn't. He still didn't understand why Louis left, and he wanted to know. They walked down the porch, and Harry pushed the strap of his backpack higher up on his shoulder.

"Why did you leave this morning?" Harry eyed him as they walked.

"Here." Louis pulled off his denim jacket, and wrapped it around Harry's shoulders. "Wouldn't want you to get a cold." He smiled and they continued walking towards Harry's high school. The walk usually took about thirty minutes, and forty when it was raining or snowing but Harry was usually early, if not - right on time to school. Although, being on time was the last thing on Harry's mind right now.

"Louis." Harry said, stopping and crossing his arms over his chest. He didn't know why this bothered him so much but it really did and he sniffled. "I invited you in, and I didn't want to be alone." He looked at the ground, shaking his head before he continued to walk.

"Too close for comfort." was all Louis said, "I didn't want to do something I'd regret." Louis answered truthfully. There was a million lies at the tip of his tongue, but he just didn't want to lie to Harry. Although, he saw how reliant Harry was becoming, how fond and it hurt.

"You're going to leave soon aren't you?" Harry asked, biting his lip timidly, and Louis just looked at the younger boy.

"I don't know yet." He said, counting his steps on the pavement. Maybe he should leave tonight. Maybe he should get the hell out of here before it's too late, and that's what he decided. He would spend the night with Harry, make him happy one last time before he was on his way.

"Maybe, I could come with?" Harry said, clearing his throat, "I want to see the world... with you." Harry was hopeful for a second, before Louis was laughing, such a beautiful sound. It was that kind of laugh where the world would stop for a second, and the skin would crinkle at the sides and his eyes would be so bright as he squinted.

"Oh, Harold. You still have school love, besides. You deserve a home. Okay? the world is a dangerous place and they would rip that precious little soul of yours apart without hesitation." Louis said, rubbing his hand up and down the length of the young boys back.

He looked over to see Harry's eyes welling with tears, and he sighed in defeat. Why was this boy having such an effect on him? He didn't want hurt him, but he had to or else he would get hurt and he was already too broken. "Please don't cry, love."

"My mom is gone almost all the time, and now you're going to leave me to." He admitted sadly, keeping his green gaze focused on the pavement and biting his lip. He wiped at his eyes, his hair falling in his face and sniffled quietly. "You say you don't need anyone...but I need you." Harry said, coughing out small cries.

Louis felt his heart drop and he just felt like he couldn't breathe. He pulled the younger boy into a hug, a long one, his hands placed at the boy's waist and this just wouldn't do. Harry nuzzled into Louis' neck, needing every bit of comfort from the older boy. Why would anyone need me? Louis thought. He was bad, and he purposely hurt people. He purposefully left a rose at his door everyday, just to watch him bleed. He said things that made Harry cry, and still Harry just wanted to be near him.

It was way too much for the older boy to process, and he knew that he definitely needed to leave tonight or he would make the biggest mistake of his life by staying.

Harry was way to precious to be tainted by someone like Louis, so when they pulled back Louis kissed the boys forehead and pushed his curly locks from his face, something he did a lot. He smiled, looking straight into those burning green eyes that were now rimmed red.

"It's okay Harry, I'm here now." He stroked his cheek, wiping away his tears and they began walking again. This time, with Louis holding his hand tight. Harry's hand was so big, and fit just perfectly with his and that scared Louis. It made his heart beat quicken, and not like when he was doing something dangerous and exciting, it was such a different feeling.

Neither of them talked for a while, just walked until Harry's school came into view. Westwood High School. Louis cringed at the large letters, because he hated this school. As they walked to the entrance, Louis dropped their hands and Harry gave him one last hug.

"Have a good day at school." Louis smiled as Harry entered and the first bell rang. He had to figure out where he would take Harry tonight. It had to be special, and dangerous of course. That's what would make it special, that Harry trusted him enough to follow him anywhere.
