"You're the closest to heaven, that I'll ever be and I don't want to go home right now."

Chapter Two; Stay?

The walk home took longer than they both expected, as there were many people walking along the streets even at this time of night. It was bright with lights, and voices and sounds and Harry just looked around at it all. People smiled at him and he smiled back because that was the polite thing to do.

Harry held Louis' hand as they walked through the crowds and it was so small and so soft. He smiled down at it a couple of times, rubbing the pad of his thumb against the rope tattooed around his wrist as he followed after the older boy - even though he couldn't see him through the mass of people.

It was really weird walking through the city during the night because Harry would usually be curled up in his room, alone and cuddling his pillow until he fell asleep; but now, he was holding Louis' hand and walking around through the city with his jacket clinging to his body.

When they finally got through the crowd, they walked next to each other but Louis still held his hand and Harry smiled to himself, eyes following the pavement with nervousness. He hoped his hands didn't feel clamy and gross. The way that Louis craved danger, was the way that Harry craved him. It was so weird how after knowing him for a little while, he just wanted to be around him.

"Louis, do you forget the people you meet?" Harry asked timidly. The conversation on the roof slightly bothered the younger boy, because now that he had met Louis, he didn't want to lose him. He always wanted to wake up to roses on his doorstep and ocean like eyes.

"I try to." Louis admitted with a small shrug. "It's better that way."

"Why?"

"Because Harry. Memories hurt sometimes." Louis said, scratching the back of his neck, a pained expression on his face. His eyes were dark, his lips thin and pink - set in a hard line and his face small. His cheekbones were so prominent, so defined. "Sometimes, goodbyes are the only good things we get."

Harry thought about this for a second. How could goodbyes ever be a good thing? they hurt, and they left you confused with broken memories. You were left to wonder where it all went wrong, and if it was your fault...Well, I guess the part about memories hurting was true. It actually hurt Harry's chest to think about.

"Do my memories hurt?" Harry really felt like a curious child, but he couldn't help it. There was so much he didn't know about Louis, and he just wanted to learn the older boy. He wanted to know all his secrets, all his twist and turns. Maybe that's all Louis needed. Someone constant.

"You're memories are lovely. They don't hurt now, but they will in time." Louis concluded as they rounded the corner of Harry's street. Harry really didn't want to go home now, because he had nothing to go inside to. Louis sighed at Harry's hurt expression but he couldn't take back the words because they had always proven to be true.

Harry and Louis walked up the small white steps to Harry's porch. Harry's mums car was missing from the lot, but he wasn't surprised since she was always gone. Harry stared at Louis, who stared back with his infamous smile. Harry surprised the older boy by pulling him into a hug.

Louis was shocked, but his frame relaxed as his arms wrapped around the younger boy and his small hands grazed Harry's back. He breathed into the curly boy's hair, sighing because he hadn't gotten a hug in so long, and he wasn't sure how he felt about the affection yet. People didn't give affection, people caused pain.

"Louis I have nothing inside." Harry muttered against the older boy. "You can stay?... I don't like being alone and... my mums always gone." he admitted timidly. He looked down at his feet, biting his lip as he waited for Louis to answer.
