End of an era

I wake up by the sound of someone knocking on my front door. I was laying on my sofa and the tv was still on.

Are you still watching?

I turn it off and rub my eyes. I had fallen asleep while watching a series last night. I finally get up and go to my front door.

When I open it I see Tommy standing there.

Tommy had been my best friend since elementary school. Some how we ended being neighbors all of our lives. He had recently gotten married to a girl called Kyoko, a Japanese exchange student. But she ended up moving here.

A lot of boys liked her and even some girls. Even I had a small crush on her, but I'd rather not tell anyone.

"Guess what?" Tommy asks me excited. "What?" I ask him trying to force a smile since I'm still very tired. "Me and Kyoko found a house, we can finally settle down!" He says while pulling me into a hug.

Tommy is.. moving? Settling down? I mean yes, all of us are adults now and they were pretty serious about each other. But I just can't imagine living somewhere without Tommy right next to me.

"Congrats!" I say trying to smile once again. "Thanks! But me and Kyoko are going to be packing now." He says opening his own apartment door across the hall.

When Tommy is excited about something he always comes and tells me. Always, but how is he going to do that now? Is he just going to call.

I close my front door and sit on my sofa again confused. The only interesting part of my life was my friends. But Tommy was the one holding us together, if he is gone I might lose them.

My life will be even more boring. I don't want to die and have people remember me as someone who stayed inside all day watching anime and reading manga..

Ever since my ex-boyfriend Ranboo moved to another country to become a college professor at a very famous school, I've been a little lonely. Now I'll be even more lonely.

Tommy moving away is like the end of an era...
