MC had been scraping at her face for about an hour and was still unhappy. No matter how much makeup she pounded on her eye bags, a purple smear still appeared. The foundation was slightly too light, the lipstick too red. Her eyeliner was crooked , and her hands shivered and quaked. Her hair was somehow worse than usual, residing like a nest on her head, lacking shine or definition or any of the things that made one look good. Or decent. Or bearable to the eye.
Putting on the dress was hard enough having no one that could help her zip it up. The heels were small on the sides and too big for the heel. The handbag could only hold about two items.
MC focused back on her hair. She wet it again, hoping it would help. It didn't. While at it, she washed out the powder off her face. She re-watched that tutorial, slowing it down until the voice became demonic .
After she was done, the makeup looked worse. She washed it off again.
"See, if you had let me," Liliya started, "None of this would have happened. Like, they were many cute clothes but no, you just had to be there all soppy and everything~"
MC tried again to deal with the hair.
"Did you notice, at the gate? The people on the ground, they looked dirty. Do you know what they were doing?"
"I know as much as you do."
"Mmph. If Khorkina was here we'd already look right."
"Shut up."
She looked back at her wispy twin, seated on the toilet seat. "Please."
MC tied her hair. She searched for the swan feather. Several feathers fell out of the headpiece in its carton box, gluing themselves to the bathroom sink. She placed it on the right side of her face, hoping it would hide her hair, at least partly.
She looked awful.
She thought of herself, wearing her blue uniform, the frost biting at her skin, hair flowing intertwining with the wind. A pretty girl. Everyone had made sure to tell her about it.
"Stop. Just stop it already."
"But I haven't said anything? You are always so mean to me."
Doll left the bathroom, slamming the door on her way out.
Her Gemini passed through, her eyes sunken, flyaways contouring her face.
"What about we don't go?"
"Nono spent way too much money on this for me to not go—which was probably her plan."
"Let's stay then. You know, if you listened to Marion and slept, we would look used to."
