"Wait, mommy what are dragons?"
"Dragons are like birds, Jacob. Really big birds and instead of having feathers they have scales, like a fish or a snake. And some of them even breath fire!" I exagerated the last word and did a motion with my hands before using some of my Fey magic to create a little amount of fire that puffed out from my mouth in the same motion. Jacob became inticed by the fire, enchanted by it's movements and colors. Eventually I cast it away, my energy draining from the small task.
"Do you understand now what a dragon is?"
"Yes mommy! Did all dragon's breath fire?! That'd be so cool!"
"No, Jacob, not all dragon's breathed fire, but I'll tell you all about dragons some other night, tonight we must get on with the story if we are to finish it in time for you to sleep."
"Ok." He settled down in the bed, getting comfortable.
"So as I was saying, it all started with the birth of twin baby dragons."

Inside the cave, the mother dragon, Yzrela, was in pain. Not like the pain a human expiriences when her children are born in to this world. No, the pain of creating a new bond with her hatchling. Yzrela, concetrated on forming the new bond, cradling it with her mind. It was so weak that if she lost concentration for even a second it would fall from her grasp and shatter, killing the hatchling instantly. She carefully mended the bond, pulling all the right strings in her mind that connected mother and babe. Once all but one of the strings were in place the egg started to hatch, and the small dragon, a female, slowly crawled out of the egg and over to Yzrela. When they touched the name came to Yzrela and her Draken in the same moment. Kaelo. Yzrela focused on their bond in her mind and added the final piece to the puzzel, naming her beautiful baby Kaelo and completing the bond, sealing Kaelo's place in this world and the pain from Kaelo's bond slowly drifted away before Yzrela focused on her next task at hand.
The current Fey supervising the birth, my grandmother, was immediately focused on the baby hatchling and it's health. But when she noticed that Yzrela was still in pain she was shocked, beliving that the pain should be over now that Kaelo's bond was completed. She looked around to see what Yzrela's gaze was fixed on. There, hidden out of sight was another egg. The Fey was outraged at the sight of the second egg. Two hatchlings being born on the same day was not allowed by the court, by law the Fey were supposed to remove the second egg at once because it is a danger to the mother dragon. The Fey went to remove the dragon egg from the presence of Yzrela but as soon as she took a step, Yzrela's Draken, Juliana, had her hand on the Fey's arm and earth rose up from the ground and sealed her feet firmly to the floor where she stood. The Draken shook her head at the Fey, warning her not to interupt Yzrela's concentration. The earth crumbled around her feet and sank back into the ground as the Fey watched in defeat as Yzrela risked her life forming her second bond.
