As I sat there alone in the suite, everything was coming down on me. I was selfish in my decision of breaking up with him. I allowed myself to dream the impossible, living the fairy tale itself. But Aayan's mother's insults woke me from my dream. It shattered the possibilities of our life together. It was the bare and ugly truth. That day I was convinced that I did not belong in his world. It was like jumping off the cliff and being sure that you would fall.
My insecurity was justified, he is at the top of the world and I was nowhere near his greatness. I was a modest, simple small town girl. There was no common ground. The decision to break things off was not that painful as to living the consequences of the decision itself.
Every day when I woke up, I felt the emptiness surrounding me. I faked empty confidence when I walked among people. Inside I was hollow. I was lying to myself. I would not miss him, only my career and my family mattered to me. I did not know that I belonged to him. He had my heart at the first glance in each other's eyes, the first kiss, and our love confession under the starry night sky.
I had been running away from the truth, trying to hide away from the truth. Now in the bargain, I lost him, I lost his trust.
'When there is no trust, there will never be love.' He had said.
Tears ran down my cheeks, as I recalled his words. I wiped away the tears and jumped up with a new determination. I needed to gain his trust back. I needed to tell him that I would do anything for him and his love. I got ready in the next half an hour and headed for work.
As Aayan's SUV sped through the dense boulevard of Delhi, I started to put my thoughts into order. I had to get Aayan and Shweta back. I missed her more now when I could have used her comfort and advice to get through this. First thing first, was to get Shweta back.
I thought of many ways, finally settled on one. I smirked inwardly at my devious plan. I called Marcus, the stylist she worked with.
"Hello, Marcus?"
"Trisha?"
"Yes, is this the right time to talk with you?" I asked tentatively, drumming my fingers nervously on the hand rest.
"Shoot, baby girl," he replied in his unique sassy tone.
"Where is Shweta?"
"She is out with Vinita for shopping some silk fabrics," he replied.
"Okay great. Can she take a leave for a day?"
"You know Vinita, right? It's never an ordinary day, every day for her is an emergency. We have to be literally on our toes!" He exclaimed.
"I know, but can I steal her for one day?" I insisted.
"Well, I guess it wouldn't be a disaster. Our next major event is months away," he replied thoughtfully.
"Oh... Then it is awesome." I cheered. "I will call you back in some time, okay?"
"Sure, baby girl. I sense something is cooking. You better involve me in it, alright?"
"Will do, later." I hung up.
Next up was Nikhil. The most important call, I considered. The problem was that I did not have his number. Only Aayan or Shweta would be of help. I was thinking of various possibilities where I could get his number.
Suddenly a thought struck me like a lightning in a night sky. Riya. She might have his number.
I dialled her number, she answered right away.
"Trisha?"
"Hey Riya, How are you?" I said nervously.
"Why did you call?" she answered with a question. the tone of her voice was completely different from her usual self.
