Friendliest Interrogation
"You know Sara? I am feeling really positive today," Tanya chirped, as we faced the Seven Empire, our workplace after getting down from the cab. The majestic seven tower complex was a sight to behold. Every time I entered, my chest filled with pride. The Architecture was all glass, and greenery to accentuate it's five star status.
"And the reason being.." I replied striding forward towards the grandiose entrance of the complex.
"Of course, because I am looking fabulous today," she smirked while her hand was busy fishing out her ID card.
I regarded her overweight form with questioning glance. That instantly made a scowl appearing on her perky and round face. I hated to admit it that Tanya, even being overweight was really a beautiful girl. Her soft and big brown eyes, small perky nose and straight hair always worked magic for her.
The simplest of long shirt and jeggings was looking distinctive and her personality always stood out. And mind you, there was no shortage of dates with her too. Already two boyfriends in her sleeves, she was in a process of hunting the third.
"No. It might be because you had a pretty nice and big breakfast because of me," I teased her punched my card at the entrance lobby.
"Oh please! The burnt Aloo Paratha doesn't come in the category of nice." She rolled her eyes. Well it wasn't my forte to cook. But burnt? That was exaggeration.
I eyed her with I-will-get back-to-you look and hopped into the lift. The usual faces were smiling formally at us, they were strangers and yet not.
"You still haven't told me about the date!" she whispered in my ears while the lift zoomed towards our destination on 13th floor.
There were many reasons for that. First reason was that the date was a disaster considering how beautifully it would have ended. Sigh! And second that Tanya had replaced my grandmom. She was so interrogative and protective that some days I really had to be mad at her to get her straight.
"There is absolutely nothing to say. He was a self-obsessed arrogant prick." I hushed in her ear.
"You told me that already, I want to know what happened after you got out of the restaurant. Please I need to know." She gave a puppy dog look before the lift stopped.
I got out ignoring her all the way, making my way towards the crowded working place. As usual the Purple magazine office was already buzzing with activities. Interns like me already on their feet carrying coffee, photocopies or big files. The graphic designers clicking madly on their mouse, working furiously. My boss, Anamika Vora always kept the employees on their toes. I checked my watch, there was still five minutes till she comes, at sharp 10.00, not one minute more or one minute less. She would stride in her shiny bag, with shiny shoes and most importantly the I-own-it-all look on her proud and overly skinny face.
"Good Morning, girls!" Kushal Kumar Roy was walking with his heavy camera around his neck to greet us. His Lazy silky hair was bouncing on his forehead. The black eyes with long and pointed nose, made him look ready for ramp.
"Morning Kush." We both chimed and hugged him. He had the same height as me, I often teased him about it. But his round Harry Potter glasses suited his cute face.
