LYANA STEPPED OUT OF BED WITH A SIGH. Her hands, stretched out, the sleeveless silk shirt raising with her actions as she yawned. A bit of drool on the side of her heart shaped lips. Shaking her toes a bit, she wore her blue silken slippers, entering the large bathroom. Gripping the nearest silk hair tie, Lyana pulled her hair into a bun. Turning the tap on and washing her face with the cold water. Using one of the gentle cleansers her dermatologist had recommended to make sure her acne didn't get worse.

Brushing her teeth, Lyana gripped the bottle of deodorant, sulking a bit as she looked at her underarms. One of her many insecurities. Getting out of her night suit, her hands reached out to the love handles on her body. Pushing them down, wishing that she could have a flat body. She looked at her curvy body with disgrace. Her breasts, that had begun growing out before any of her classmates, her curvy behind, the cellulite on her thighs. Everything made her feel disgusted.

Lyana shook the thoughts out. She was no longer a thirteen year old. Who allowed society to rip her self esteem to shreds. Yes the insecurities still lingered and resurfaced at random times, but for the most part, Lyana was satisfied with how she looked. And the fact that her parents - after much insistence - had gotten her that gym membership, meant she could finally work on having the body that she wanted. Not what the people wanted.

Lyana, an eighteen year old, had seen the worst of society. Despite her parents trying to keep her in a shelter and trying to save her from the harsh realities, she was no stranger to them. Lyana stared at herself. Counting down reasons she should be happy about. Starting from her brown, but not really that dark brown instead the lightest of browns mixed with honey shade eyes. Next her naturally, arched brows. Her one sided dimple and many other details ran through her mind. Winking at herself, she confidently got dressed into her outfit.

Today was the start of a new year. Her last year at school before university and before she had to mix up with people from all walks of life. One of the perks of being in A-levels was that she got to wear clothes that she wanted to. Rather than the itchy school uniform. Having prepared her outfit in her mind days ago, and set it out last night, she immediately got dressed. Loving the way the white top fitted her. Its neckline, resting a few inches above the top slope of her breast. The sleeves, loose. Fitting at the end of her hand. Pairing it with flared dark denims, she tucked the shirt in. Wearing white heeled booties with it.

Lyana grabbed her leather tote. The pastel pink and golden chain straps screamed her name. Hence why she had dragged her mother into the store to get it while they were on a trip to Europe in the summer. Her shoulder length hair, were left loose. And the thick moisturiser and sunscreen the only thing on her face.

Lyana jumped down the steps, turning the wifi of her phone on. Waiting for the notifications to run through. Placing her phone and bag on the dinning table, still the same one they had had since her birth, Lyana walked to her grandmother's bedroom.
