Ben's POV

Friday night.

I was going home late after going through my book of my café when I find Lien and Beam are arguing at the dining table where not far from there Forth and Four are playing with the game connected to the TV.

Bane is no where to be seen. I think he is still having dinner with his parents.
He refused to go home for weekend but at least he didn't refuse to have dinner together.

"It's only two hours away, driving." Lien said to Beam.

"We didn't even have any car. By bus it took 4 hours." Beam said. "Can't you work something out? Should I move to that city with you?"

"Don't be ridiculous. You already got accepted here and like it or not, someday you are going to live without me."

"Don't you fucking-say that!" Beam explodes.

"Look." Lien sighs. "I didn't just accept the offer without consideration. I got promoted and we both know we need this." She said. "I need this. For us, our future."

Beam tightens his lips. "You should have agreed when I said I should drop it, the Med school."

"DON'T YOU DARE, BEAM!" Now Lien explodes. "You will fulfil your dream!"

"But, mother...."

"I'll leave on Sunday." Lien said.

"But...."

Lien raised her index finger while getting up. "Just this one, Beam, let me pull my mother card and listen to me."

Beam blinks.

I am still frozen at the main door.

Forth and Four are stunned while turning their attention from the game to Lien and Beam.

Beam blinks.

I can see Beam has teary eyes.

Beam nods without saying anything anymore.

Lien turns to me. "Owh, sorry that you have to see that." She said. She gulps several times before told me, "I got promoted to be the Head Office Manager out of town. I'll leave in a week."

I blink. "Owh." I don't know what to say. "Congratulation."

Lien smiled thinly. "If you don't mind, Beam will live here like how you offered to help us, but he can find another place to live like in the free dorm that the University offered or even paid dorm. I think I can afford it."

"How about you?"

Lien shrugs. "I'm good. Moving out of town means I got house facility from the office. I already asked for an apartment. I even got a car and driver too."

Silence.

When I look at Beam, he looked like he wanted me to say something to change her mind.

But, who am I?

I am just Ben.

"Been a long day, I'll be raking a rest for now. I have work tomorrow." Lien said and then walks to her bedroom.

CLICK.

I close the door.
I've been stunned way too long at the door.

Beam sighs.
