A/N:
If you have a dream, go for it.

Ben's POV

I don't know why I take their table—Lien and Beam's table, from my assigned waiter.

Maybe because I was bored.
Maybe because I enjoy how Beam got annoyed.
Maybe I just want to hear Lien's warm laugh up close.

"Okay. It's final. I won't take the Med Faculty. I will go with Engineering or anything that won't cost you a kidney." Beam hisses.

Lien laughs. "I was just joking. I don't need to sell my kidney! Owh, come on. Have a little faith in me. I can have a wonderful career. I do good."

"You are die trying." Beam looks at her mother desperately. And then he turns to me.

Correction. Glares at me.

"You have waiter to take our order." Beam says. "What are you doing here?"

I'm glad he asked. I tap on my name tag.
It's Ben, Waiter.
I grin.
I thank myself that I came prepared.

Beam sighs. "Sandwich and water."

"Water? Not hot chocolate...?" I ask. Odd.

Beam nods.

"Owh, baby! I probably don't have that black cards anymore, but I can still pay for some hot chocolate." Lien says. And then she turns to me. "He needs his chocolate intake. As for me, I wan't croissant and espresso. Double."

"Come right away." I say.

As I walk to the counter I can't get the words out of my mind.

No more black cards? What happened with her 'friends'?

***

Again. Beam is here alone with his books.

He is thinking hard even his eyes are staring blankly at the book. And then suddenly he gets up and walks toward me.

Wait. Me?

"You can place the order to the waiter." I say.

Beam shakes his head. He is not glaring at me. His eyes looked troubled.

I raise my eyebrows. "What?"

"I need a job. Would you take me as your waiter? Your waiter's skill in cross selling your product is suck, by the way. They just place the order, they should've make a sell." Beam says.

I blink. "Did your mother know about this?"

"She will when it's too late." Beam says firmly. "Please. I need the money."

I blink.

"The black cards can pay for my education but mother decided that she doesn't deserve it and wants to give me real money from her job. She did good, but I can't see her suffer." Beam says. "Look. I want to be a doctor and the education is hella expensive. I need a job to help her."

I blink. I don't think that's a good idea... to let him work here, I mean.
Lien would have killed me.

"This is your fault." Beam hisses.

I raise both my eyebrows. Why me?

"You talked about all the wrongness of being friendly with some men. So what if she was friendly enough that they gave her their black cards?!! Ugh!" Beam growls. But I can see him glad she cut her ties with those men.

I sigh. I nod.

"Was that a 'yes'...?" Beam asks.

I nod.
