Drone Swap-Murder Drones

Outside

Nexten woke up to see U right next to him, his visor instantly shooting up in green light. As much as he didn't mind having U next to him, this was a tad bit too much, seeing how she was huddled up in his arm, no angst visible in her peaceful rest. He stood up and started moving for his desk to start his day before being promptly stopped by something. Looking down he saw U's tail coiled around his waist as it pulled him back to her. "Your kidding me." He chuckled at the new experience and waited for her to wake up.

(A few minutes later)

"Good morning sleepy head" Nexten was eagerly waiting for U to wake up. U took a second before seeing her tail coiled around Nexten. She quickly took it away with an embarrassed look on her face.

"Sorry, about that, I don't have much control over my tail, it just does its own thing" She grabbed the Stinger part. Nexten wrote on his notes, more stuff to hand in as the new scientist of the colony. "Soo, now what?" Nexten grabbed a bag and stood up from his desk.

"While you were asleep, my mom came by and dropped this bag, told me to collect some drone part and bring them back, we've been running low on resources lately." U gave a nervous laugh about going outside before realizing Nexten said his mother came by.

"She didn't see us..." Nexten visor started to light up which made U visor also light up "...did she say anything."

"She opened the door, saw us and said," Nexten gave his best Jade impression "..Oh my." U's visor lit up more.

"I really hate your mother sometimes, you know that."

"Yeah me neither but at least she stopped wishing for my death so that something." Nexten grabbed the railgun and claws. "Well we need to get going soon, you ready?"

After a while, the two made their way outside. U pointed towards a familiar run down building. "That's were I brought and you gave your whole speech about friendship." Both still snickered at the analogy, "seriously, that was the sappiest thing you've said."

"Yeah, and if I can prevent it, the sappiest thing I'll say for a LONG tim-" Nexten was pulled by U at an incredible speed. U backed up with Nexten in her grip and wings out. Looking to where Nexten was, there were the claws of a murder drone that had dived where he was at. The murder drone stood up, slightly disappointed that his claws weren't covered in oil. He looked back at the two of them. U was eyeing down whoever just tried that stunt with murderous anger while Nexten tried to keep his heart from beating out of his chest after seeing that he was almost crushed by an MD. The MD spoke up.

"Well aren't you lucky," he looked at U "why are you helping him, he's food" U stood up, letting go of Nexten. Without a word she attacked the MD with Nexten paralyzed in shock. U was vicious with her attack but the MD seemed to take very little damage from any attack she hit. Eventually she would get tired and thats when the MD struck, using his tail, he broke one of her sensors which she used to see.

Now a blacked out glitchy figure stood over her about to stab her head before it was pushed away by another holding what looked like a weapon. They both moved out of her sight as the sound of the Railgun fired, looking to her side, she saw them fighting with the railgun hitting the floor as it was tossed aside, one of the figure extended a wing and pierced the other's silhouette. There was a moment of stillness before the other figure took out claws and cut into the head silhouette of the other. Both dropping dead on the snow. U eyes hollowed in fear as to what happened, was that it. She just met someone who cared enough to consider a friend and he just died by the another one of her people. She was pretty badly damaged even if the fight was short, she had cuts on her arms and chest, her clothes with new gashes. With all that happened and a new wave of overpowering sleepiness, she powered off, expecting it to be her last time waking up. After a while, she powered back on after feeling like she was been lifted, her sensors were still broken and her sleepiness still there, she couldn't see much, just glimpses as she tried gaining enough energy. First it was snow, then a drone head, then more drone bodies until she realized she was been led inside a corpse spire. She started to fidget, get off whoever was holding her, expecting it to be the MD and fight them till her last breath (despite the fact that MDs don't need to breathe). The figure noticed this before hurrying up its pace. Her next glimpse was inside the pod, it was empty, she got set down on something soft and saw the figure pace around the room before leaving. She heard angry voices outside, some desperate ones, seemed like the MDs teammates arrived. The same figure came back with a bowl of oil and instinct took over, she took it and drank. The figure left once she was done and she fell back to sleep. Perhaps this group would accept her, even if she did almost kill one of theirs. Probably wishful thinking though.

(After a few hours)

U booted up completely, her sensors all working meaning she could see clearly. Looking around, the room was empty and she was... in her old room. Confused she tried taking a step of her bed, pain quickly jolted frim her side.

"Fuck, this still hurts." She heard the sound of footsteps running over to the room. She was preparing to bring out a weapon when Nexten popped out of the door frame. He looked overjoyed seeing her awake, though the joy was cut short when U flinched at the pain again.

"You ok?!"

"I'm fine, just need time and oil to fully regenerate" She smelled oil, it was fresh and warm. Still she was confused. "Why do I smell oil?" Nexten raised one of his hands which had a fresh cut, it was slowly healing, it would take a while considering he wasn't an MD but it would heal.

"I needed to give you oil since you were overheating so I cut my hand and bled myself. The oil will come back eventually so don't worry." He held his hand.

"Wait, what happened, I thought both of you died back there?" Nexten looked back her and began reciting his part of the story.

Nexten saw the MD about to strike U down and hit it on one of its sensors with the back end of the railgun. This knocked to the floor were he tried to shoot it, the gun got knocked out of his hands. Then the MD pulled out a wing and tried to stab Nexten but the sensor being broken messed him up making him miss. This gave Nexten enough time to grab the wing with one hand and stab the head of MD with the claws of the other. Once the MD was dead Nexten fell, taking a breath before looking back to U who had blacked out. He then transported her here as it was the closest safe spot and the rest is history.

"Well that's one hell of a story."

"Tell me about it, I think this is the 5th attempt on my life in like 3 days, frankly this is tiresome, also you were right," he raised one of his hand and extended the claws from it. "These did come in handy"  there was a moment of silence.

"You now I'm starting to feel like I'm gonna regret making that pun."

"OH you have no idea how much that's gonna backfire on you." Both laughed before Nexten checked her temperature. He had an unpleasant face. "Your overheating again." U smile went away, nit sure of what to do, all she knew is that she couldn't exactly fly them home in her current condition. Nexten looked at his hand and walked around for a bit before sighing and sitting in front of U, his back facing her. "Please make it quick." She looked at him for a minute until it finally clicked, to which her eyes hollowed.

"WHAT, you just bled yourself and now you want me to take MORE, do you have a death wish!?" N stood back up, looking upset.

"OF COURSE NOT, but I can't leave you starving, you'd attack me out of necessity, this at least keep the chances slim."

"I'd shut myself down before that happened!"

"And how do you think that would make me feel knowing I could have help my ONLY friend from dying!" Nexten's eyes flashed yellow as he punched the wall of the pod, his voice echoing throughout it. He lowered his voice and gained noticeably saddened tone as he pulled at his shirt and jacket collar, exposing his neck and shoulder as he sat back down. "Please, I don't want to be alone, not again. Just make it quick... for my sake." U hesitated as she took Nexten and steadied him, being bitten and drained was every bit as painful as it sounded. U quickly got what remaining oil she needed and just as quickly stopped biting, licking the wound to let some nanites speed up the healing. Still, the wound looked like it would last for a few days.

"Great, that's gonna leave a mark, we're not doing ourselves any favors with my mom." Nexten started having troubles standing still, walking from side to side before falling into U who quickly caught him. "Sorry just kinda light headed from losing oil, just.. need... a minute...." And just like that, Nexten blacked out.

"Your are the most stubborn, self-less prick I know." She tucked Nexten next to her before lowering her voice, "...thank you." And like that, both went to sleep till nightfall, where they could make their way back home.
