I am Nexten, a worker drone living in copper-9, an exoplanet that my parent company, JcJenson in spaaaace used to mine. I say used cause well, all the humans are dead, they blew up the exoplanet's core leaving all the workers drones to live on their own which went pretty well. Or at least went well till they sent THEM. Now everyone is hiding in colonies or dying to those things. Hell, they killed my father leaving my mom to take care of me. Now I've been working on THIS *sound of a railgun been raised*, maybe with it I can protect those I care about *proceeds to mumbles something about his mother and disappointment*. Anyway, I just need a few more parts for it to be complete.

-End of recording-

Nexten groaned upon hearing his first audio file, he said that last part like it would be a cake walk but it had been weeks and he was still not done, he needed one more part, sure, but that was a power cell which could only be found near murder drone nests. As the gun stood now, it could fire but it would just blow up in his face and break his makeshift power cell which he learned the hard way when it did blow up in his face. To rub salt in the wound, his mother had come in and berated for making that much noise, not paying any attention to the soot in the room and bandages he was putting on his head. Nexten didn't care how mean she was cause that was just her, she didn't care for him, only saw him as a disappointment and didn't even try to hide it, as evident by the posters around the colony reading "Guest speaker- Jade Doorman, on dealing with your worthless scrap metal of a kid." He looked at the recorder and proceeded to add a new entry.

"Okay, going over the plan one more time. I'm going to wake up, grab what I need which would be the railgun and keycard, run over to the nest, grab a power cell and book it back before anyone notices me." After finishing with the recording, Nexten fell to his bed and went to rest, last thing he needed was being too tired to notice a murder drone approaching.

The time had come, he picked up the essentials, the railgun, a keycard, his hat and set off to the main doorway before being stopped by Jade who had left a maintenence room. "And where might you be going?" Nexten thought of any excuse before shakily replying.

"To make out with my girlfriend that I definitely have." Jade looked at Nexten for a minute before roaring with laughter. After a few seconds she collected herself enough to respond.

"HA, good one, the only people you'll find outside are murder drones though, and unless you feel like gambling your life in a 1 in a million that they don't kill you, I doubt you would date one." Her laugh went away completely, "Your free to surprise me though, for once." Nexten looked at his mother with an unamused face, then realized that end part.

"Wait, your letting me go out?"

"Yeah sure, but only because I don't feel like tightening the bolts outside." Jade handed Nexten a pristine wrench before continuing, "good joke though, don't die out there." Nexten opened the doors to the outside and went on his way, the door could wait, it's not like not doing it now would bite him in the near future.

(At the corpse spire)

Nexten walked inside and started looking around for the power cell. He looked for a few minutes until the noise of Murder drone flying overhead made him seek cover. Quickly grabbing a shard from a visor, he looked around for a power cell, periodically checking on the Murder drone until he no longer saw them. " Alright, the murder drone is gone I can ke-" He stopped himself as a sharp pain came over him and looking back to his hand, a yellow Stinger had stabbed him.

"Oh, biscuits"

Before he could see where the Murder drone was he got thrown in to the distance. When he landed he saw that the throw uncovered a green item deep in the robot bodies. He quickly grabbed it and plugged it into the railgun before the murder drone landed in front of him. He quickly pointed the gun and shot, not entirely certain if the shot hit until opening his eyes to show the drone's head was completely destroyed.

"It works, IT WORKS, FINALLY I DID SOMETHING WORTH SOMETH-" his celebration was cut short when the drone body fell on him. After a few seconds of squirming around, he got himself lose and out of his situation, he started heading back till he heard a voice from behind him, promptly dropping the railgun in shock.

"OW, my head hurts, what happened"

"You can talk?" The murder drone was confused by the comment.

"Of course we can, your talking to me aren't you"

"But I'm not a-" Nexten quickly corrected himself when he realized she didn't seem to notice that he was a worker,"a-round these part, where i was Disassembly drones were usually very quiet."

"So your new to the group," the murder drone let out a notable groan of annoyance,"of course I'm left to play babysitter with the newbie," she looked back at Nexten before introducing herself in a mostly monotone voice.

"My name is serial designation U, I'm the hated one in the group, so don't expect much from me." Nexten picked up his weapon.

"Well it sure was nice to meet ya, hope you get treated better, but I gotta g-" He jolted in pain when he remembered about his burning hand. He looked back at U, holding his hand. "Hey do you now what to do about the nanite acid."

Quietly, U grabbed Nexten's hand to look at it before spitting on the wound. "Nanite acid is neutralized by our saliva, which is good cause otherwise I'm pretty certain one of my teammates might have accidentally killed me." Nexten looked at U with less fear and more worry, were her teammates really that awful that they would kill her, eventually curiosity got the better of him.

"Are they really that mean?" U looked down at Nexten with an almost shocked expression.

"Well no, not really, sure they threaten me constantly with it, not mention tell me I'm a disappointment..." with every detail U said, her expression began to sadden more and more until she broke down in a wave of tears. "I'm not a disappointment!!" Nexten came next to her and put his hand around her trying to give some sort of comfort.

"Your right, your not a disappointment" it was a low reasurring murmur by him that got her attention, up till then he hadn't noticed she was been hugged. She looked like she was never hugged before.

"You think so?" Her voice was filled with so much cautious hope that it almost hurt Nexten, the two were awful to her, he agreed with her once and it was like her whole world was flipped.

"No your not, you introduce me to the group well enough and I was the one that asked you talk about it." Nexten let go of U before continuing,"Sure I didn't expect you to cry about it, but it's good to get things off your chest." Nexten never thought he'd be giving mental advice to a dissasembly drone but here he was, sure she thought he was a dissasembly drone himself, but still.

Both U and Nexten heard the noise of Murder drone wings flapping. U looked up and pouted at the realization that they were back, "Well great, now you'll see why I hate th-" She looked back down to face Nexten but didn't see him anywhere.
