There were once two girls, who were the best of friends. They lived together in a villages up in the mountains, where they would play together. The girls lived in poverty, and they found solace within each other.

However there was one difference between the two girls. One girl, who went by the name *Hiroko*, always worked hard with her parents to put food on the table. As they lived in poverty, it was hard to get money to make ends meet, so Hiroko would always do what she could to help her parents. As a result, there was always food on the table, no matter how small or stale it was. The other girl, a girl named **Hibiki**, never really worked for her food. She always wanted to play with Hiroko, for Hibiki never really understood her circumstances, as her parents shielded her from that knowledge. This results in Hibiki's family to not even have food on the table often, sometimes going days without it.  It was hard for Hibiki and her family to even eat, so as a result, Hibiki would often go many days without food.

Hibiki would've died of starvation, had it not been for Hiroko giving Hibiki what little food she had. Hiroko always shared her little food with Hibiki, as Hiroko understood how poor they both were. She didn't want her best friend to starve after all. Hibiki would often rely on Hiroko for food, but Hiroko couldn't always share her food with Hibiki. Sometimes, there would only be enough food for Hiroko to eat, causing Hibiki to starve.

This resulted in the start of Hibiki's jealousy, from the young age of 9. Hibiki knew that Hiroko always had food, and she was jealous. Why couldn't she get food on the table everyday? Why didn't Hiroko share her food if she had it everyday?
Poor Hibiki. She was blinded by ignorance, never understanding that Hiroko had to work hard to even earn a scrape of bread, and that Hiroko also starved. Hibiki never understood that you had to work to earn your food.

Hiroko was blind to Hibiki's jealousy though. She was always a generous girl, and genuinely wanted to help Hibiki. However, Hibiki's jealousy blinded her, and one day, when things were terribly bad for Hibiki, as she was starving, Hiroko didn't give her food. Hibiki didn't understand, however Hiroko was struggling herself to get food for her parents. When Hiroko returned home, Hibiki confronted her, angry about being starving. She unleashed her anger, filled with jealousy on Hiroko. Hiroko didn't understand, but tried to explain to Hibiki, but Hibiki wouldn't listen. She was so angry, filled with a burning **red** jealousy, that she turned away from Hiroko and stopped talking to her.

Hiroko tried to talk to Hibiki, but Hibiki's jealousy prevented her from even wanting to see Hiroko. As a result, they separated, going down their own paths.

As the years passed, Hiroko worked hard to get out of poverty, and was able to open up a restaurant. Hiroko could now make her own food to give to people, all while having enough for herself. Keeping her generous nature, she still gave out food that remained from her restaurant to people in need. She became a well respected young woman due to her generosity and hard work.

Hibiki though, remained in poverty. She was often very hungry, once again never understanding that you had to work in order to eat. She knew of her best friend's success, and her jealousy boiled within her heart.
Hibiki lived on the streets, often begging for food, only for her to be shunned most of the time. Out on the streets though, she heard rumors. Rumors of a woman with a tattered dress that could grant you your deepest wish, as long as you pray to her every night. Hibiki was intrigued.

And someone else was intrigued with her.

One night, while getting ready to sleep on the streets after eating nothing for the day, she spotted something out from the corner of her eye. Curious, she went to check out what it was, only for her to discover a statue of a mysterious woman, who looked like a demon, one that the people rumored to be the one who could grant a person's wishes.
