Some Context: Based of the trailer, Ohaguro Betteri appears to be in the city, which according to one of the sneak peeks posted by Muc, seems to be based off Kawasaki Ward. Kawasaki Ward is known for being industrial and full of business, and this will be relevant to my Headcannon.
There once was a girl named **Emika**, who lived in a village full of business and life. Emika wasn't the prettiest girl physically, as her name suggests when her parents gave her that name. Emika was a bit on the chubbier side, her skin had a few birthmarks here and there, her face was always a bit off. Her eyes were a bit too slim, her nose a bit too wide, her upper lip being slightly bigger than her bottom one, her ears being too big, her eyebrows a bit too thick... Emika was ugly.
At least, to those around her. All but her parents, and other girls who were considered "ugly" like her thought the complete opposite. Emika lived in an area where everyone was competing against everyone else, and her lack of physical beauty did her no good socially. She was often made fun of at school due to her imperfect features.
But what Emika lacked in physical beauty, she made up in a beautiful personality, and a gifted talent.
Emika was a compassionate yet headstrong girl. She never let the discouraging words of others affect her, and she would often stand up to those who mocked other girls who were like her. Considered **ugly**. She would comfort those who cried when they were shamed for their looks. Emika saw no reason to change herself just to look pretty, nor did she see any reason for others to change how they look just to be considered "pretty".
Emika had a talent for making others feel and look beautiful. From a young age, she could make hairstyles and design clothing that would fit whomever requested her to make a dress for them. Emika would often practice her hair making skills on her mother, or other girls. Emika steered away from altering the face in any way or form, as she always found it uncomfortable whenever she saw other women wearing those countless layers of white powder, with the addition of black teeth. Her mother even tried to put it on her once when Emika was curious as to how it felt like. Emika didn't like the feeling of it at all, so she refrained from wearing the makeup at all.
As Emika grew up, she was constantly shamed for her imperfect looks, along with countless other girls like her, most of them having to resort to uncomfortable means to be considered pretty. Emika didn't like that, so she swore that when she grew up, she would open a shop to improve a women's beauty, but not changing their face, but by giving them options that were best suited to what they got.
Emika used her talent to produce various outfits of all sizes. It took a bit of work, but she eventually was able to open up her own little shop. It slowly grew in popularity with the women, as they could find beautiful outfits sewn by her that could fit them, and Emika would also put their hair up to fit their looks. Emika's compassionate personality also drew others towards her store, as they could always rely on her to make them feel beautiful. Word spread about her shop, drawing more women and customers towards it.
Emika's shop flourished, but what she didn't realize was that she struck jealousy to the "pretty" women around her.
Those that mocked Emika for her looks were *jealous* of her success. Most were young women trying to catch the eye of a man who could be a suitable husband, but what struck their little hearts was the fact that the women Emika helped often ended up with suitable husbands instead of them. Emika was unaware of this, and this only infused more jealousy in the women.
That jealousy would enhance more when Emika met someone.
A man, a handsome one at that, heard of Emika's success and ability to seemingly make any women pretty. Curious about the mysterious woman behind it all, he stopped by the shop.
