It was always full with implausible stories living in the coastal portion of the city. Several sailors believed their own little made up outlandish tales, while others of the city did not. And it was legitimate for us to hold opposing viewpoints on our beliefs.

But telling stories about odd shapes swimming far beyond reef, claiming that they've drowned captains and pulled them in the depth of the ocean. It's a load of nonsense that wasn't believable one single bit.

There were stories about ghosts. Spirit-related stories. And even demons. Like a clock, these stories continued to revolve around the city, and a clock never ceases it's rotation until it breaks. For the citizens of the city, those stories had grown old and tiresome to the point where they no longer wanted to hear about the same drivel. And that's when they broke the clock themselves, and replaced it with a new one.

Mermaids. It was the new story.

The sailors are intriguing,
really. In that they continually come up with something more ludicrous to propagate rumours about. This absurd fable about flesh-eating mermaids, on the other hand, was not going to cease anytime soon, or anytime later.

This nonsensical allegation was something they said was a hundred percent genuine, and they weren't going to stop until they had confirmation. And that wasn't going to happen any time soon, either.

They've had plenty of other stories to make the city scoff, but this was one that they'd had enough of. It was all a figment of the imagination. It was a fantasy that wasn't true. Instead of people making unreal articles about fairies and trolls, and other non-living creatures, it's sea monsters. Living near the sea was really a ruse to entice sailors to scare the city's residents, which never worked.

The stories were also diametrically opposed. They could have been more enjoyable if the 'sea monsters' hadn't been forced to play the bad guy. Apparently, these monsters were voracious human feeders. However, he had always envisioned them to be beautiful. He didn't think anyone would ever be able to comprehend them. Perhaps they weren't as horrible as they claimed.

Reggie knew that if they were real life creatures, they'd be innocent. He never imagined them to be such vicious beings. The world has always assumed so much of us, making us appear to be the evil ones, and most people are unaware of this.

No. They believed that the correct interpretation of a mermaid was one that was monstrous. Monstrous mermaids with razor-sharp teeth and claws, which they utilised to devour their victims. Used to devour humans.

But how could they devour a human with these so called blade-sharpened teeth and claws if they weren't real? It was just a fantasy. It wasn't real, so it didn't matter.

Reggie didn't even bother to think about it. He made it a point to push the bullshit to the back of his mind and keep the rational thoughts in front. However, every time he overhears another city dweller discussing it, he simply rolls his eyes and continues on his way. Yes. Some people in the city believed in mermaids, but they weren't as bad as the crazy seamen who informed everyone they met about it.

They didn't notice that everyone considered the stories were absurd, so they proceeded to distribute them across the city. It was impossible to put an end to it. It was a never ending loop. An unbreakable timepiece.

They weren't believable in the least. So, Reggie couldn't get himself to believe in these alleged sea creatures. He was well aware that it was all a hoax designed to scare people. It wasn't convincing to believe in something they used to terrify people with.

But that all soon changed for Reggie.

The colour of blue flashed within a blink of the human eye. He knew it was something that was supposed to be remained unobserved by us living beings. He knew he should've shut his eyes or turned away, but he couldn't bring himself to do so.

The most magical thing that felt so unbelievable was right in front of him. There was no potential way to compel him to look away.

It seemed as if an angel was directing his orbs to look in these region of space ones, despite the fact that he was never influenced. No. He couldn't seem to stop himself from doing so.

Reggie couldn't keep his eyes away from this majestic creature.

The creature he had always considered to be a myth, was right in front of his very eyes.

.....
