Chapter 8: Conversation in regards to the Cannon Fodder
In a dimly lit room illuminated by moonlight, a young man was sitting on a chair while reading a newspaper. His hazel eyes were focused while his hand that was holding on the newspaper was tight but not to the point that it would become wrinkled. The ash brown-haired young man then closed the newspaper and gaze at the person in front of him.
The other person was currently tapping his finger on a table. It was a man who looked like in his early thirties. He was currently wearing only wearing a white shirt and loose tie around the collar of his shirt. He was fully resting his back on his chair and was gazing at the student in front of him with amusement in his eyes. Noticing the frown etched on the teenager, he asked.
" How was it? "
After a moment of thinking, the young man answered as the frown on his face disappeared.
" I simply don't care what transpired to him. "
His voice was calm and unperturbed as he replied. Upon his answer, the other person chuckled.
" I see... The difference in treatment is astounding, Student Chan-woo. "
Byun Chan-woo, the protagonist of this world was silent to the interested inquiry of the chairman of the Samjoko academy, the number 1 academy of their country.
" But since he was practically a stranger and someone who endangered the life of you and other people, it's natural to don't feel anything for someone like him. "
Byun Chan-woo nodded his head slightly and placed the newspaper on the table.
" Yet, there was something that you should be worried about Student, Chan-Woo. "
" The school year hasn't started yet. Please refrain from calling me a student, chairman. "
" But aren't you already a student before? Then, it was appropriate to call you a student. Anyway, I think that it may affect your reputation a little even though this piece of article is already exaggerated. Our sensational journalist, is a piece of work isn't she? "
The chairman curled his lip in disdain as he gaze coldly at the newspaper. It then started levitating before it was shredded into very small pieces and vanished after 5 seconds.
Byun Chan-woo doesn't look surprised as the newspaper was ripped to pieces and disappeared. Looking at moonlight piercing through the window, he answered.
" It wouldn't concern me if it would affect my reputation, but you are right that journalist Jeong Bong-Cha was a real piece of work. "
" Do you want me to take care of her as a repayment for the favors that I owed you, Chan-woo? "
" No. "
Byun Chan-Woo instantly answered.
" It's not worth using the great black dragon for something insignificant like her. It was absurd. "
" Then how about Chun Young-Soo? What about if he comes for revenge in the future? "
Byun Chan-Woo laughed at the idea as if it was a joke.
" What can he do? Even if there was a possibility, I already blocked most of their paths for revenge. They wouldn't rise again and dare to offend me. "
" How confident and brazen you are, Student Chan-woo. "
" If he comes in the future, I am prepared for everything that he would pull at me when that time comes. "
A few seconds of silence ensured after those words before the chairman asked again.
" Do you truly not believe that he has amnesia? "
" Did you not see how he acted as a selfless hero? Even us who was betrayed for his survival would be convinced with his acting skills if we don't know the truth. "
The chairman chuckled at the answer. Mirth was flowing in his eyes as he stated at his benefactor. Then the amusement in his eyes disappeared replace with a frown on his face. He asked in a soft voice.
" Then, don't you guilt towards a selfish person who decided to end his life because of your retaliation? "
One second and a few seconds, it registered on the eyes of the chairman how Chan-woo's hands shook for a little bit before it became steady. Gazing at him with his hazel eyes, Chan-woo replied with conviction.
" He was a coward..... I don't feel anything towards that kind of despicable person. "
Satisfied with their conversation, the chairman then has one of his bodyguards called to escort out Byun Chan-Woo leaving him alone in his office at the Samjoko Academy. After a while, he placed his feet at the table and hummed.
Raising his left hand, it then glowed, and the space in front of it makes a strange sound. The pieces of newspaper earlier that disappeared materialized before becoming a whole newspaper again.
In one of the articles in the newspaper, there was a picture of Chun Young-Soo inserted that appeared to be clueless and innocent.
The chairman's lip curled up and his eyes were looking at the photo with mirth and disdain.
Even if you forget all of the things that you have done, it doesn't mean that you are free of your sins.
Chun Young-Soo and the people on his list would keep piling and piling up.
Even if the benefactor let the matters go, he would decide that things would be better if there are no future trashes that were left discarded on the ground.
But for now, the chairman of the Samjoko Academy Yong Hyun-tae would take care of the current nuisances who were currently in their country.
As his benefactor has said, she was someone insignificant to him. But someone like her has decided to mess with his benefactor.
Yong Hyun-tae, one of the dragons of the east wouldn't let someone insignificant like her mess with his benefactor.
Illuminated by moonlight, the shadow of the chairman in the night wasn't a shadow of a person. But of something monstrous.
