The limousine driver opens the door and Derek helps me get in. I almost trip on my long dress, but just in time I can sit myself down on the bench in the limousine. Derek gets in after me. 'Are you ready, Mer?' he asks me. 'I'm nervous.' I say. Derek leans in to grab the bottle of champagne and pours us a glass. He hands one glass to me. 'Cheers, to your Catherine Fox award nomination.' we cling our glasses and I take a sip. 'What if I don't win, Der?' I sigh. 'Then we go back to the hotel, you cry a lot, then we have some sex and then we get home to the kids.' he smirks. I shake my head and laugh.

We arrive at the party and Derek helps me get out of the limousine. We walk inside the hotel. When we walk inside we greet Richard and Catherine and then we get in. Sitting down at the table, fear strikes me. Derek takes my hand and puts it on his thigh. 'Relax, Mer.' he strokes my hand and kisses it. I smile back to him. The lights dim and Catherine appears on stage.

'Dearly invitees, we welcome you to the yearly Award Ceremony for the Catherine Fox Award for surgical innovation. This year we have an extraordinary line up for our nominees. Without further ado, the winner of this years Catherine Fox Award for surgical innovation goes to, doctor Meredith Grey!' Catherine says and I look at Derek. He applauses and nods me to stand up. We both stand up and he takes my head in his hands and gives me a kiss. We pull away and I make my way to the stage.

When I get up, Catherine hands me the award. I walk to the microphone in the middle of the stage. 'Wow, first of all, thank you so much for this award. Even though it is my second one, this one is just as special. I have a lot of people to thank. Firstly, I need to thank Richard Webber and Miranda Bailey for being the most amazing mentors I have ever had in my career. I, of course, need to thank my sisters, Amelia and Maggie for being such awesome people. And then I have the most honorable mentions left. First, Jo Wilson. She helped me invent the mini-livers and this is as much her award as it is mine. Then, I need to thank my amazing children, Zola, Bailey and Ellis, for not driving me insane over my research and who flood me with kisses and hugs every day. But lastly, I need to thank my incredible husband, doctor Derek Shepherd. Who keeps me on earth when I impend to fly away. But, who also helped me so much with my research and who lets me be when I spend nights in the hospital or at home, researching everything there is to search for. But who also loves me for who I am and what I want to achieve. So Der, this one is for you too. Thank you!' I put the award up in the air and I walk off stage to Catherine and I hug her.

I walk back in to the room and I put my arms around Derek. 'I am so proud of you, Mer.' he whispers in my ear. I pull away and wipe my tears away. 'Let's get us a drink.' I say and we walk to the bar where Derek orders us both a red wine. I'm more in for tequila right now, but red wine is way more classy. I feel my purse vibrate and I take a look.

M: 'Hey, Cris!' I speak in to my phone cheery.

C: 'Meredith Grey, two time Catherine Fox Award winner! Congratulations!'

M: 'Awe, Cristina! Thank you so much!'

C: 'I am so happy for you. But know I will snatch one away from you when I am in Seattle once.'

M: 'I will guard it with my life!' I laugh and Cristina laughs too.

C: 'I'm going to hang. But have fun being all fancy and dressed up!'

M: 'Bye, Cris!'

We hang up and I put my phone back in my purse. 'Cristina?' Derek asks and I nod, taking my wine from him and taking a sip.

Hours later my feet hurt and I am the tiniest bit tipsy. We walk outside and the limousine stop in front of us. We get in and Derek immediately pulls me closer to him. 'I've been wanting to do this since the moment you got that award in your hands.' he pushes his lips on to mine and his tongue enters my mouth. Our hand roam over our bodies. A few minutes later, the driver stops and we pull away. We straighten our clothes and I grab my award and we get out of the limousine. Making our way in to the hotel, I can feel myself ache for him. I want him so bad.
