I opened the shop's door and stepped inside, which the sound of jingle bells ringed in my ears. I saw Spinach Cookie behind the counter.

"What brings you here Espresso?"

"Small items, that's all,"

"Alright! I'll be right here if you need me!"

"Thanks,"

Madeline's POV

I was sitting down on the couch, talking to Sparkling.

"You know we gotta bio project, right?"

"Dammit! We do?"

"Yeah, and we need partners. I already found one,"

"I'm assuming it's Herb, right?"

"Yeah. He seems he's excited,''

"Well, yeah! He's someone who gets poison ivy and thinks its a blessing from Mother Nature,"

I got up to get some hot cocoa. The dorm room's heating was pretty much broken when I and Sparkling came here for the first time. And they never fix

"Hey, is there any more hot cocoa?"

"No, I'll to go get some,"

"Out in the freezing snow, Maddy? You'll catch hypothermia or something,"

"I'll be okay Sparkling!"

I put on my winter boots and coat. I waved Sparkling goodbye and closed the door behind me.

Espresso's POV

I picked up a basket and started to walk down small isles of products.

"Dairy...Dairy...Ah! There,"

The cold air hit my face as I opened the refrigerator door. I looked down at the small list for what I needed.

Just 2-gallon milk and some other stuff. Shouldn't take me very long...

Just as I picked the jug of milk out of the refrigerator, I heard the door of the shop open with a jiggle.

"Ah! Madeline! Nice to see you!"

"Hey Spinach!"

"Just call me went you need me!"

While hearing Spinach and Madeline's conversation, I was hiding behind the beverages aisle.

What is he doing here? Why is he here? Wait...Is he stalking me?

While all those questions were racing through my mind, I felt a warm hand on my shoulder.

"AAH!"

"Oh, sorry I didn't mean to scare you, Essy!"

"No, it's fine.."

"Well, I was here to get some hot cocoa mix for me  Sparkling. Your welcome to join us if you like!"

"No, thank you. I'm good,"

"Well...We can do anything you like to do! Besides, Sparkling would be fine without me for a while!"

I stood there in complete silence...Never one had asked me what I wanted to do. I and if I didn't have anything I wanted to do anyway...

"Well...I, uh... I was walking down in the forest trail a few minutes ago..."

"Then we shall finish the walk you were on!"

"Oh okay,"

I felt my face get hot red. Madeline took my hand, making drop the jug of milk in the other(Luckily I didn't spill it), and dragged me out the door. The rush between the cold December air and my face sent chills down my spine. Still running, I looked up to Madeline. He had a big smile on his face, nearly blinding me. After running for a few seconds, we slowed down a bit to see an open field. The field was covered with pure white snow, with patches of grass sticking out.

"Me and Raspberry used to go here when we were younger. Just to run around and play,"

I was shocked by its open space. Usually, the park barely had any more spaces. They've been occupied by small parks for little kids to play in.

"Woah..This...really pretty..."

Pulled me once again to another spot. There were trees and bushes that covered me and Madeline.  Maddy pushed away a branch and ducked under another. I did the same and ducked under the branches. An old swing set swung slowly with the cool, winter breeze. Madeline let go of my hand and went to one of the swings.

"Come on!"

I sighed and gave in. I sat next to him as he swung a little bit.

" What are you going to do for the holidays?"

"Oh, holidays? It's just going to be me and Latte again this year,"

"Why do you never smile?"

"Hey! I do smile at times! You just never see it!"

Madeline's POV

Espresso's face started to blush a little and turned back to the ground.

"But seriously, you're always so shy, and just so...reserved,"

"I am not!"

Espresso's expression slowly turned from irritated to sorrow.

"No...You're right. I don't know why I am. I wanted someone to comfort me..I mean, don't get me wrong! Latte can be helpful...Rarely,but I wish I had someone who loved me...But, in another way..."

"I do..."

Espresso looked up to me with a shocked face.

"You...Do?"

"Well, yeah! I think you're really cool and sweet!"

I looked at him with a soft smile.

"Thanks...I should go now...Sparkling waiting for me,"

Espresso's POV

I picked up a handful of snow and threw it at Madeline. He turned around and looked at me with surprised. His face lit up and threw a snowball back at me again. I ran behind a rock and peeped behind it with a smirk. Madeline threw another snow ball, hitting the rock.

"Ha! You can't get me!"

Maddy run behind the rock and threw a snowball directly in my face.

"Haha! Looks who's talking!"

"S-shut up!"

I wiped my face, and chucked a snowball back at Maddy.

"Hm...I see how it is..!"

Madeline swept me from my feet and picked me up. We both start to laugh and  look into each others eyes.

"Hey! Your bigger than me! That's basically cheating!"

"Eh, not really. Your just mad that I won!"

Maddy put me back on the ground were I was. I buried my face into Madeline's chest.  I looked back into Madeline's eyes. He had a soft, warm smile on his face. That smile...That sweet smile made me felt secure in his arms.

"Sorry for distracting you from your shopping,"

"It's fine! I rather let Latte do instead,"

I buried my face back into his chest. I could feel myself slowly falling asleep. Trying to stay awake, I let go of Madeline. I was holding Madeline's hands tightly.

"I'm so sleepy..."

Madeline's POV

"How about...I give you ride! But.."

I crouched down on the ground.

"Here!"

"You're so childish Maddy,"

"Come on! I know you don't wanna walk back~"
