Two months. Two months since Leo. Two months since Romans hated Greeks but had united against a common enemy. Two months and the pain was still as sharp, still as fresh. Leo was gone.
"Hey you almost ready in there Pipes? It's gonna start soon." Jason called from outside my cabin door. Today was Leo's shroud burning.
"Almost ready." I hollered back. The burning was more of a casual occasion, especially since none of us had packed any fancy funeral attire. I was wearing black shorts and a black tank top with my hair down. Outside on the porch I took Jason's hand and we both walked down to the fireworks beach. Around camp people were quietly crying, even Dionysus was silent for once.
Leo's shroud was a flame colour with a picture of two crossed hammers, under which were the words 'repair boy' written in metallic script. A tear slid down my cheek. Today was going to be a tear stained afternoon.
Jason and I walked over to Percy who was hugging Annabeth. Percy seemed distracted, he was staring silently out over the water with a look of concentration on his face.
"Hey Piper," Sniffed Annabeth, "it's beautiful isn't it? I think Leo would have been proud."
"I think so too." I responded, fighting back the imminent tears.
