"WELL, congratulations, Cash. You're officially off the hook." Cashay heard Cinco after looking at his watch. She turned to him who was sitting in front of the table.
She didn't react to what Cinco said. They've been drifting in the middle of the sea for almost two days now. No help was coming, she couldn't sleep and she's beginning to get seasick because the waves get stronger and weaker. She's really getting dizzy and very pissed off.
"I just hope nothing bad happened to our grandparents because of this very unfortunate event." That's all she was able to say to Cinco after a few minutes.
"I hope so, too." It was obvious that he was worried too.
She could just sigh and look at him. He got tan very quickly because of the sun's heat. She on the other hand, was more like red. The top of the yacht was ruined so nothing could really shield them from the heat of the sun. Even in the cabin, the glass walls are broken so even if it's at the bottom of the yacht, it's almost just as hot. They don't have sunblock lotion, and the yacht doesn't have a stock either.
"I wonder where we are now." She asked moments later.
"We're definitely farther from the course we intended to take. Maybe we have drifted so far."
"How about the stars?"
"Well, I can read the stars. We can use the lifeboat too. However, we can't bring all the food and water with us. I also can't guarantee you that we can land on time if we navigate through the stars because we can only travel at night." Cinco explained.
"I don't wanna risk it, then." She immediately responded. She took out their phones again and tried to turn them on for the hundredth time. None of the phones would still work. "Damn these useless phones!"
"Those are done for, Cash. I bet the wirings have all short circuited."
She can no longer bring herself to regret for the money she used to buy her iPhone 13 pro max with the maximum storage capacity. "We have to think of something."
"The engine's top cover is broken. Maybe something got wet that's why it wouldn't start. The tools are not even here..." Cinco said, shaking his head in frustration. He then went to the cabin and looked everywhere, perhaps he's hoping to find the tools that has always been in the yacht. "Arghhhhh, damn it! I don't understand why the tools aren't here!"
Cinco finally stepped out and sat across the table, facing her. They both leaned over and just stared at their sophisticated cell phones that proved to be useless in the time they most needed them.
She was stunned for a moment when Cinco reached out for her hand and squeezed it softly. "I know it doesn't sound very convincing but... we'll get through it, Cash. What have we not overcome together ever since?" He was smiling but it didn't reach his eyes.
"Maybe we're meant to realize that we're not supposed to play around serious things like marriage, Cinco."
"I thought about that, too."
"Maybe we have to talk and think those things through if we were to survive this."
"I totally agree with you."
"We shouldn't rush things out."
He nodded. "You said it."
Then a long and awkward silence covered the atmosphere between them.
"Why did you let me go, Cash?" Cinco asked after a long silence that stunned her.
She looked at him before saying, "Can't we talk about anything else?"
