Aires pov...

I had dragged my aching body out of my warm bed at seven am and immediately regretted it.

After the night before shit show, I was more than ready to lock myself in my room and let my body heal from the hell it had been through. However, I wasn't granted my wish. The world was still spinning, so I had to get my shit together, and out of the door.

"Oh my god it's fucking freezing." I snapped as I jumped into the passenger seat of Allison's car.

"I know." She hummed. "Okay so I told my dad that we are going to San Francisco to celebrate your birthday weekend."

"My birthday?" I echoed, a frown on my face. "I'm not turning sixteen for another month and a bit. Wait, they were okay with you being with me?"

It wasn't her parents I was asking about, it was Gerard

He had a file, one with my name and one sat on his desk- which left no doubt in my mind, he was looking for something. Looking for something connected to me, no doubt.

"My dad was fine with it, my mom and Gerard however had a lot of questions. Mostly about your family."

Not only did I have Gerard on my tail but I also had Allison's scary ass mom up my ass as well. I was up to my neck in problems and stress, and though I didn't want to, I had to regrettably ask.

"What did they ask?" I forced out with a shake of my head as we sped down the empty roads of Beacon Hills.

"They wanted to know if you have seen Derek and they also wanted to know if you are supernatural."

"Fucking fantastic."

"I told them that you haven't been in contact with him since he tried to kill you at the school- my dad didn't say anything about the night of the formal. He answered the second question before I could."

"What?" I suddenly screamed as a mix of anger and panic flew through my veins.

It was clear as hell

Chris knew. He knew I killed the hunter, and he was on to me. He knew I was a monster, he knew it all

"No, don't worry. He told them that you are human."

Skeptically, I narrowed my eyes on the girl because none of what she was saying made any sense. "Why would he cover for me? He knows I'm supernatural."

He knew, and yet he was covering for me? Bullshit. He was waiting for the perfect time to kill me, he was another person waiting to strike. No way, an Argent, covered for me- it didn't make any fucking sense in my mind.

He wouldn't.

An Argent wouldn't.

Alli gave me a light shrug, acting as if what her father did was no big deal. "I'm not sure, I think he didn't want you to get dragged into all this mess."

"What mess?"

My life was a mess

And he had been in it for years

"All the hunters and drama. You're only fifteen, Aires. I think he was just protecting you."

Protecting me? Please. The man who was a supernatural hunter? Complete and utter bullshit, or so I assumed. Maybe he was protecting me, maybe he wasn't trying to kill me- but I wasn't taking chances. Chris Argent was another person I had to look over my shoulder for.
