Makomo hadn't been so keen on going to a club with her friends. But they had convinced her, and she had promised herself she would behave.

After two drinks and a sandwich, she was already dizzy and tipsy, and needed to go home, only to be ignored by her friends, in their attempt to get with a guy with peach hair and a scar on his cheek.

On his left was a his supposed best friend, someone named Tomioka, who was smiling and encouraging him as the peach boy slaughtered the dance floor with his moves. Makomo laughed as she watched her friends attempt to keep up with him, leaning next to Tomioka while the rest of them were laughing.

"Busy night, eh?" a female voice asked. Makomo and Tomioka turned to their right, to find a woman with purple tips looking at Tomioka with a huge, innocent smile.

Tomioka was immediately entranced, and Makomo smiled as she wandered outside.

The street was fairly dark, but along the way, it was lit up by lamps. Makomo had to admit, with the pollution halfway gone in their attempt to restore the environment, the starry night sure was beautiful.

"Makomo, correct?" a deep voice asked, as Makomo turned to see the boy with peach hair from earlier.

She grinned at him. She could tell he meant no harm, despite that menacing scar on his face.

"Hello!"

"You were with those girls on the dance floor, correct?" he asked, looking at her intently. Makomo smiled.

"Yes, I was." she hiccupped. The boy cracked a smile.

"What's that pin on your lapel?" he asked, pointing to a small keychain attached to her pocket on her shirt. She looked down and smiled.

"That's a charm from my grandmother. She said that she got that charm especially made by an old man named Urokodaki. She said that whenever the other bearer buys it, that menas that they are your true soulmate."

The boy smiled.

"I'm sorry, I never got your name." she suddenly said, beaming at him with large, pearly white teeth. Her blue eyes were hidden beneath her choppy bangs of black, raven hair.

"Sabito."

"Ah." she looked up at the moon, which was half hidden behind the clouds.

"I'm surprised."

She looked at him, curiosity filling her eyes.

"Not many people come to look at the stars or the moon anymore. It's like... they don't care."

Makomo smiled and tenderly picked the flower crown off her of head, and gently placed it on his head, watching as a small blush crept across his face. She burst into laughter, making him turn even redder than was probably possible.

Makomo's laughter slowed.

"That's not funny." Sabito smirked, taking the flower crown off of his head and placing it back on hers.

She stifled another giggle.

"Speak for yourself."

"But this charm..." he prodded, pointing at the little cat knickknack on her lapel again. Makomo rolled her eyes playfully. It wasn't like she spent all her time looking at the cat.

Sabito gently pulled it out of her lapel, and suddenly she felt lonely without it. Sabito smiled, pulling out a little charm of his own from his back pocket.

On a little black chain, there was a cat mask, part of the same matching set her grandmother had bought years ago.

"How do you-"

"I guess I've found my soulmate..." he smiled and cupped her cheek. Closing her eyes and resting her face against his palm, which was surprisingly soft, she felt loved.

Happy.

Cherished.

Something she hadn't felt since her grandmother had died.

Makomo opened her eyes.

"I can't believe it."

"Me neither."

And with that, Sabito pulled her gently to him, embracing her in such a tender way that she felt both squished and loved in the same hug.

Looking up at the stars, her cheek grazed his scar, feeling the warmth and love emanating from his body.
