"You're stupid, you know that?!" she felt the slight pain on her cheek spread across her face. He'd slapper her.
He was sobbing, she thought.
He was above her. Definitely in a compromising position. And she hadn't noticed the oncoming truck.
She'd spaced out.
Again.
In the middle of the road.
"I know you're hurt, Kochou. But walking in front of a truck, that's, that's-"
His fists clenched.
She stared at him, his mouth agape.
"You- You..." Shinobu stared at him, completely at a loss for words. He.. saved her?
Well, it was only natural, wasn't it? She thought.
She noticed that his heart was breathing extremely fast.
They were on the pavement.
...
Giyu angrily tossed his house keys onto the side table, as Shinobu followed, her hands meek as she closed the door silently.
"Giyuu-san..."
"What the heck were you thinking, Kochou?!" he whipped around, his angry blue eyes piercing hers. She looked away.
"I-I'm sorry..."
"You're sorry?! How could you be so reckless, Kochou? You nearly got run over by a freaking truck! And you want to say you're sorry?" Tomioka yelled at her. She winced.
She was used to harsh treatment.
But... since... he wasn't harsh. He wasn't evil. He didn't have a bad bone in his body. He may be angsty and moody, but that wasn't Tomioka.
That wasn't her Giyu.
But she couldn't help but feel angry.
"Why the heck do you care so much in the first place, eh, Tomioka-san?" she shouted back. He recoiled from her harsh tone.
"I could've taken care of myself." she added.
"You were nearly run over by a truck, Kochou? Do you think he would've stopped?" he screamed.
"No, but-"
"There are no buts on this one, Kochou! Listen! I'm worried, okay? You've been spacing out. You've been rushing everywhere. You don't pay attention to your surroundings." he sighed and placed his hands on her shoulders, not looking at her.
"I-I'm worried that you'll kill yourself. One way or another, whether it be getting run over, or... overworking." Giyu clenched his fists, the fabric of her kimono getting tangled in his grip.
He cared this much?
"Giyu, I'm sorry." she grazed his shoulder.
He turned to her.
"Are you sorry now?" he interjected.
"I didn't mean to make you worry. Giyu-san... You put the weight of the world on your shoulders and don't ask for help. I don't want my load to be on your shoulders. I want to help you carry it." Shinobu begged, looking at him through those lavender orbs of hers.
"You never actually said sorry..." he muttered.
She groaned.
He was like this all the time.
"You are so stubborn.' she murmured, as he pulled her into a tight embrace. She sighed, breathing in his cologne.
She had never noticed how much he cared before.
How much he loved her.
"Do you care that much, Giyu-san?" she asked gently. Pulling away, but not enough to expend the warmth, he looked at her, the confusion evident in his eyes.
"I do."
