Katsuki loved being a villain. There were no standards and no rules aside from not being a complete dick to other villains. Though it was more of recommendation, it was an unspoken rule to keep them together. Villains didn't always share the same ideals or goals, but maintaining a good rapport between them was something necessary. Those who weren't regarded well would be the bottom of the list to assist if needed, should they even be on it.
So Katsuki did his best. He helped others escape from heroes, patched up those who needed it, and assisted in battles if he were asked.
The League of Villains was a group he maintained a very good rapport with. He was very skilled at medical care and that got him pretty far in terms of trust.
He teamed up with others, yes, but he wasn't officially in any affiliation. He was Spark, the lone villain who was always in the company of a dog.
He had two. And Katsuki loved them. He had a tan pitbull who he'd saved from an death sentence and a black samoyed that he stolen from a neglectful hero.
These two dogs were his partners in crime, his loyal family. Zuko and Cherry.
Cherry had been in the line to be put down. The only one in the line. He couldn't understand why. She was the sweetest dog. It was mostly likely because she was a pitbull. He saved her and he didn't regret it.
She wasn't violent or dangerous, she simply watched over him. She never fought the heroes unless he had been seriously injured, she somehow knew when he needed help and when he didn't. She often was there to give him warnings and keep watch.
Zuko was different. He was aggressive and protective. Having been thoroughly neglected and forgotten about, the thick furred dog quickly took to aggressive acts to keep Katsuki safe. After all, Katsuki gave his dogs everything they might need and more. He made sure that they were safe and happy.
He out that before himself; they were all he had.
So, yes, when he saw news reports of him and his dogs, it excited him. Many children looked at him differently. There were heroes, villains, and Spark. He was the only villain who was accompanied by animals who had nothing to do with his quirk. That fact alone made him a widely talked about topic.
He had an Instagram account for him and his dogs. It had taken some thinking, but he devised a method of using it. Obviously, if he had a phone, the heroes and police would triangulate it off of the closest towers. So he kept it taken apart. THe'd stash it somewhere when he'd plan to fight, and the Wi-Fi remained blocked unless he was using it. He couldn't go to a store and go 'hey yeah I need to get service for my phone' so he used Wi-Fi.
The best part of everything, was that he could sit on inside the range of a restaurant complex and steak their Wi-Fi. Since it was always a generalized area and they would only know he was online when he posted, it would take time to find him.
He had almost a million followers, many of which being media outlets, undercover police accounts, and ironically enough, Yuuei students. He followed one profile and one alone. It was a private account that the leader of the League secretly used. It was mostly gaming content, but in the comments, various undercover villains would chat in a widely used code they'd developed.
Katsuki never posted about his villain work. Only photos his dogs.
This was a strategic move. He portrayed himself and his dogs as cute and calm. It gave him good points in the public's opinion. It frustrated the heroes.
"Ready for a walk?" He called to his dogs as he adjusted his mask, making sure it was properly clipped and overall on right. His dogs barked back, tails wagging. Zuko made long sweeping movements while Cherry's whip-like tail cut through the air.
He had taken residence in a simple home in the Kamino ward. Placement wise, it was because the house was paid for by the League. A gift in return for his medical services. He had safe houses all across the different wards, but this was his main one.
He walked through the streets in open daylight. He went through various locations around so it wasn't uncommon for the general public to see him.
Hero-wise, none of them bothered trying to catch him during the day. He could hide in crowds and he always knew an escape route.
"Oh my god! It's Spark!" Some schoolboy gushed from a store a little bit up the sidewalk. Cherry gave a bark. She loved kids.
"Hey" He returned to the kid. The boy flushed. Katsuki loved these kinds of reactions. He had fans. And he was a villain.
"Can I- Can I take a picture with you?"
Shrugging, Katsuki agreed. The kid seemed over his head in excitement as he unlocked his phone, messing up the password a few times in his haste.
He made half a heart for the kid to complete and the boy just about died. The selfie taken was priceless, Cherry had stuck her nose up into their heart and Zuko was visible sitting stoically behind them. The kids face was flushed. A fanboy.
"Thank you!" The schoolboy exclaimed, "I can post this right?"
"Go ahead. Oh, tag me"
"I will!" Katsuki smirked as the boy gave a kiss to Cherry's head and a pat to Zuko's head.
Being a villain was fun, but being a villain with fans was a whole new level of fun.
