Later that night after dinner, Lev's sister Alisa interrogated her little brother all about his first day of volleyball practice.
"Was it fun? Were the people nice, did you make any friends? Do you think you'll continue with volleyball or try something else–oh, and do you need any help with homework?" She asked, having just gotten back from being away for a few weeks, and was trying to think of everything she could to ask.
"Alisaaaa, slow down!" Lev begged as the two of them sat down on his bed, Alisa clutching a pillow and gazing at Lev with interest. Lev was secretly glad his sister cared though, as she'd been traveling a lot more the past year and he really missed her.
"It was really cool! It was super hard, a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I still really enjoyed it and want to go back. And everyone was very nice–well, not Yaku-san, but that's alright–and welcoming. I was accidentally late to practice because I got my arm stuck in a vending machine," Alisa rolled her eyes, "but they were understanding. They said it'll take me a while to catch up since I've never played before, but I should be caught up in time to play in matches later this season!"
Alisa smiled as she listened to Lev fill her in all about volleyball, and Nekoma. She knew transferring schools so unexpectedly had been a huge bummer for Lev, but he always managed to adjust fairly well, so she wasn't too worried.
"Any cute girls? Or guys? Or nonbinary people?" Alisa asked, carefully taking note of her little brother's reaction. He hesitated just the tiniest bit before responding, "Nooo," as his eyes moved from her face as well, suddenly darting back.
"Lyovochka! You liar, there is someone!" Alisa declared triumphantly, pointing a finger at her brother and grinning at him like she'd just won the lottery. Lev groaned as he leaned his head against the wall. He should've known, Alisa could read him like a book.
"Who is it, who is it! Please you have to tell me!" Alisa begged. "Please please please, I'll help you get together with them like last time, I promise, just leave it to me!" Lev owed two girlfriends he'd had during middle school to his sister, as much as he was loath to admit it.
"No, I wanna get them by myself this time!" He insisted, a light blush spreading across his cheeks as Alisa's grin grew.
"Ahhh, so you do intend on asking this person out?" She asked slyly, uncovering more and more secrets the deeper she dug.
"I–well–I mean–yes–" Lev sputtered. Truth be told, he wasn't ashamed of his crush at all, but he had been hoping to successfully become Yaku's boyfriend before telling them, just in case he never actually pulled it off.
Alisa, deciding she'd done enough pushing for one day, got up and walked to the door. "Well, I look forward to hearing about this person, and I wish you the best of luck in asking them out. Let me know how it goes!" She said before leaving Lev to dwell in his thoughts.
Yaku, on the other hand, didn't tell his parents about Lev for quite a long time.
