Yaku really was angry or yelling at someone or kicking or hitting them most of the time, and this really was one of the first times Lev had seen him in such a non-aggressive state. It was strange to think that Yaku was capable of not being so stressed all the time, but he clearly was, and Lev wished he could've been more relaxed more often. He didn't have to wait too long before that happened though.

Bokuto from Fukurodani was having a birthday party that several Nekoma people were going to (he invited everyone, just not everyone was going), including Yaku and Lev.

It was a small but interesting group of people, Bokuto and Akaashi, a few other Fukurodani players, Yaku and Lev and Kuroo and Kenma, and Tsukishima, who was apparently kind of close to the other school's captain and setter, was down visiting them and showed up as well.

"–working on my blocks since you last saw me, Kenma says they're getting really good–"

"They're not that good–" Kenma shouted from across the room; Lev chose to ignore that and continue.

"They are getting good, I'll show you when we face off at nationals, you'll see! What about you Tsukishima, how are your blocks?" Lev tried to send Kenma an accusatory glare, but he had already returned to his game in the corner.

"Getting better too I suppose. It's hard not to with Hinata around." Tsukishima shrugged and said nonchalantly. Lev briefly wondered how Karasuno practices weren't complete and utter chaos with Hinata, Tsukishima, and Kageyama in the mix. And those two crazy second-years. Actually, there vice captain could be kind of wild too–

"Aww Tsukki don't be so modest, your blocks are a hundred times better than that idiot's," Kuroo said walking up to the two first-years. He shot a mischievous grin Lev's way before putting an arm around Tsukishima and pulling him closer to him. The blonde sent him a wilting death glare, but didn't pull away.

"Kuroo-sannn! My blocks are decent!" Lev defended himself. Apparently all of his senpais felt like ganging up on him at the moment. Maybe Yaku would–no. No he wouldn't. It wasn't even worth a try.

"You'll get there." Kuroo said with a shrug. Lev sighed and announced he was going to find people who weren't constantly devaluing his hard work. Not too far away he spotted Yaku, currently engaged in a deep conversation with Akaashi. Lev hesitated, not wanting to interrupt their team mom talk or whatever, but Akaashi walked off a moment later to go talk to Bokuto, so he was in the clear.

"Yaku-sannn, Kuroo-san and Kenma-san are being mean." He pouted. Yaku looked annoyedly over at Kuroo. Lev was his first-year to make fun of, not theirs, how dare they.

"What'd they say?" He asked, looking back up at Lev. Lev didn't look too sad though, not like that one time he had been so glum, telling Yaku about his sister and his test and his move (and he had stepped in gum, but Yaku had deemed that unimportant).

"They heavily implied that my blocking isn't good!" Lev wailed halfheartedly. Even he was realizing he wasn't so mad, and it had more been an excuse to go talk to Yaku than anything.

"Oh. Well it's not you know. But you'll get there." Yaku replied, waving him off. Lev groaned and informed him that was what Kuroo had said. Yaku grinned, trying to hide it, because he became aware that Lev looked kind of cute when he was annoyed, but he quickly pushed the thought away and returned to the moment.

"Well, anyway, volleyball aside, how's the party for you?" He asked. He actually hadn't been able to talk to Lev that much yet, but Lev was more than happy to oblige about all the little conversations he'd had, learning more about Kenma's game when he sat with him for some time, hearing how Karasuno was doing from Tsukishima.
