The next day, after having more time to gather his thoughts and feelings, Yaku decided he was going to see Lev. As annoying as Lev was sometimes, he was a good person, and he didn't in any way deserve what Yaku had said and done to him, and he needed to make it right.
Kenma came over that morning, surprised to find Yaku, which (with some encouragement), led to him confessing what he had been hiding, all the years of abuse, how he was trying to leave it now. Kenma had been quiet the whole time, silently hugging Yaku when he was done.
"I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind you staying with us at all, if you need to." He whispered in his ear. Yaku was scared he was going to start crying all over again (and he needed to save his tears for later today when he told Lev everything), so he bit down on his lip hard and nodded into Kenma's shoulder, knowing the other understood.
The three of them had breakfast at Kuroo's house; Kenma went to his house after and returned with his game, intending to play at Kuroo's all day, as well as some clothes for Yaku, which fit much better than anything Kuroo had. Kenma sat on the floor next to Yaku and continued to lean against him while Kuroo sat behind them, mostly carrying the conversation. Kenma would give halfhearted hums in response here and there, but Yaku was busy texting Lev.
"Lev, I owe you a huge apology. Could I meet you at the park by school today?" He texted. He stared and stared at his phone after, hoping for some kind of response, anything, but every passing minute with no sign Lev had seen it felt like an eternity.
In the event that Lev never wrote back and was ignoring and blocking him, Yaku didn't blame him, but would still need to decide how to proceed afterwards. Whether or not Lev accepted it, Yaku needed him to know how sorry he was. Truth be told he didn't remember their interaction very much from Friday, he had been in such a state of panic and freaking out, it was almost like another person had taken control of him. But that didn't excuse what he'd done.
Aside from that, what if Lev decided to quit the team? Because of him? Yaku definitely wouldn't be able to forgive himself if Lev gave up something he so clearly loved because he was so horrible to him.
If Lev did agree to meet, what would Yaku even say? It was one thing to talk to Alisa, someone who didn't know him, or even Kuroo who knew him very well, but Lev–Lev was his...crush. And he was so young and innocent and good and just...Yaku wasn't. Yaku was a mess. If anything, he needed to squash any remaining feelings Lev had for him once and for all, convince he should be with a better person, because really, he should've been.
"i'll meet you in twenty minutes" was all Lev said. Yaku looked down at his phone when it pinged, signaling the message. He read it, over and over again, but it was just so bland, impossible to decipher just how bad he was feeling. If Yaku had to guess, he would say mad. Lev was never mad. Yaku turned his head away so the others wouldn't see him cry.
But, Lev was agreeing to meet him. He would at least be heard out, and that...that was something. It might have to be enough.
Scrambling to get up (because he absolutely could not be late), Yaku grabbed his phone and started walking to the door, ignoring the many missed calls and texts from his dad and step-mom.
"Where are you going?" Kenma asked curiously, even pausing his game. Kuroo must've known and looked at him encouragingly.
"I'm going to meet Lev, to apologize to him." Yaku murmured nervously, so different from the pillar of strength and confidence he usually was. Kuroo and Kenma exchanged a glance.
"Just...good luck. You can do this Yaku." Kuroo said, Kenma nodding in agreement. Yaku took a deep breath and thanked his friends before heading out. He could do this. He could do this, he could do this, he could do it, he would.
