After almost of searching, following the investigation the Witch conducted and left in her house, a lead took us to a beach town in South America. It was a small town on the slopes of a mountain, next to the sea. It was a beautiful place that maybe in other circumstances would had been a nice holiday destination.
Thanks to Dana's notes, we knew the boy was born on the first of June 1995. Getting a list of all the boys born on that date in a small town like that was easier than I expected, of course I had to use the help of the Sentinel to sneak in the hospital archives, but still, it was an easy job.
There was only one boy born on that exact date, he lived with her mother in an old house on the borders of the town, on the way to the mountain.
"What now?" Adeline asked, looking at me with a big question mark in her face. "You have asked all around town and there is no sign that indicates that the boy is evil or powerful. It's just a boy."
"We don't know that." I responded, without taking my eyes off the boy, who was playing with some other kids in the street. "The Witch and my father made a big deal out of this boy. We should not underestimate him just because he looks normal."
"What are you going to do if he is evil?" she asked and then she looked at me for a whole minute in silence.
"I don't know," I replied, and I was not lying. I was not sure I could kill a boy, just because he could be a threat someday.
"I don't think you are capable of killing him," she whispered, with her eyes still on me.
I was about to answer her when the boy said goodbye to his friends and started to walk alone towards the mountain.
"This is our chance," I said, and I got out of the car we were on and started walking behind him.
"What is your plan?" Adeline asked, following me.
"I just wanna talk to him," I replied. "I'm sure my ancestors... or the Sentinel will sense something in the boy. I just need to get closer to him."
Adeline did not say anything else and just followed me in silence all the way up the mountain. It was obvious she did not agree with my intentions, and she probably feared what I would do.
"What is a ten-year-old boy doing up in the mountain alone," I muttered after walking in silence for almost twenty minutes.
"Kids do all kinds of weird things, that doesn't mean they are evil powerful monsters," Adeline said in a sarcastic tone.
After walking another twenty minutes in silence, following the trail of the boy, we arrived to the top and we saw the kid entering an old wooden cabin built against a huge rock on the top of the mountain.
"Wait here," I said to Adeline.
"What are you going to do?" she asked again, worried. I turned to her to answer but suddenly something alerted my senses, and I realised we were not alone there.
I turned around immediately, and I saw a man, standing between the cabin and us, with his hands hidden behind him. There was something really strange about him. His skin was pale like a piece of paper, his features were very different from the local men, and there was something unusual in his eyes, but I did not know what it was.
"You are not from around here," he said with a strange accent. I was pretty sure all the people in the town spoke only Spanish, hence that man was also an outsider.
"Neither are you," I replied adopting a more stable position on the ground, in case that man wanted to attack.
"Why are you follow him?" he asked with an aggressive expression in his face. "What do you want with the boy?"
