"I swear if I have to sit through another one of Present Mic's lectures, I'm going to go deaf."
"Isn't that a little dramatic? I mean, he's not that loud."
"No, but he is that annoying. If he doesn't make my eardrums burst, I'll do it myself." Shokya giggled.
"So.. about our conversation earlier..."
"Oh. Right. Well..." I had to go into this gently. "When I moved here, I moved in with a foster family. They're not the best people. When we got the letter about the dorms, they were so happy to get rid of me. I was just happy to get out."
"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. But now you're making a new live at UA High!"
"With the help of you and the teachers, of course." She giggled, bashfully. Someone knocked on the door.
"Hey!" Oh no. "So, remember how you had total goo-goo eyes for Bakugo at lunch?"
"Um-"
"No need to answer. I already know. Anyways, I got you a date with him!"
"Wha-"
"Yup. Right now! You guys are going for a walk through the garden!"
"That's not much of a date," Shokya retorted. I wouldn't know much about dates.
"It's something. Come on, he's waiting downstairs!" I didn't know how else to resist, and I didn't want to be rude since he was waiting downstairs. I threw my shoes on and followed her out the door.
"Good luck!" Shokya shouted after me.
When we got downstairs, I was more than surprised at what I saw. It wasn't the boy with the mysterious eyes that I saw the first day of school. And now I saw what she meant. The intense look.
"I'm Bakugo. You must be Itzuki. Usually I don't do dates, but that girl wouldn't stop talking. The only way I could get her to shut up was to say yes. What's her name again?"
"I-I don't know. She was just the only person who even acted like she cared on the first day. That is, until Shokya showed up."
"Cool. Let's walk so she doesn't start bothering me again." Wow. I don't even know what to make of this guy.
"Um, sure." We started walking and turned a corner. He stopped.
"You seem quiet."
"So?"
"Something tells me you're not really into me."
"What makes you say that?"
"Literally everything about this walk. And we've been walking for two minutes."
"Huh. I guess I am really as boring as everyone says."
"Quite the opposite, actually. Usually younger girls are all over me, trying to get me to like them. You're nothing like them. You're cute, but not really my type. Although, you seem like you have some good conversations in your head. Let's keep walking." I didn't know what else to do, so I kept walking with him. Another few minutes passed. "Well, since you still haven't said anything, I guess I'll start. Where are you from?"
"America."
"Sweet. So what made you want to come here?"
"Um," I scrambled for a quick lie. "I just wanted to attend UA. I want to spend some time as a pro, then become a teacher here." That was the outer shell of the reason I was here.
"Damn, you've got it all planned out. I just wanna be the Number One Hero."
"That's not really all that detailed."
"No, but it's a goal nonetheless. What made you want to become a teacher here?" Wow. He really was looking for a good conversation.
"Well, I had a strange childhood. And don't ask about it, I won't tell you anything. I just want to help kids become the best they can be, as well as helping people."
"You sound a lot like Deku." Deku. I knew that name. He was somehow involved in a lot of villain schemes last year.
"Deku. That's Izuku Midoriya, right?"
"What? You seriously don't know that?"
"Well, while I was in America, I really only learned about American heroes. I've heard all about your class, but mostly just rumors. And I don't know any of your faces."
"Well, I'm Bakugo. Maybe I can introduce you to the others in my class soon. It's getting late, we should get back to the dorms."
"You're right." We walked in silence until we got to the first corner past my dorm. "By the way, what's-her-face got it all wrong. Like I said, I don't know any of your faces so when she mentioned your name I just kind of rolled with it."
"Yeah, I figured it was something like that. You're a cool kid, Itzuki. Maybe we can be friends." He started walking away. "Oh, by the way, don't tell anyone about me being so nice. I have a reputation to hold up." I gave him a thumbs up and walked back to my dorm.
"You have to tell me all about it!" I wish she would let up.
"We just walked. Mostly in silence. He's not that talkative." She fanned her face and sighed.
"He sounds so dreamy." I wish she'd go away.
"Hey!" Thank goodness it was just Shokya standing outside my room. "How'd your 'date' go?"
"Ugh. It was awful. I really need to learn that class's faces. I know all their names, but not who they are."
"Yeah. me too. I'm pretty sure everyone else thinks we've been living under a rock."
"Probably." I yawned. "I should be getting ready for bed. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
