Zara's Pov
Not again
I'm late, and as you may have guessed, again. I'm constantly busy, from the hospital, back home, then to work. I work at a daycare, which is honestly not were I thought I'd end up, especially because I don't like kids. But I need to raise money and this was the only place that would hire me.
I ran to my bathroom stealing a glance at the mirror at my curly hair and hop in the shower.
The heat of the water hit my skin and instantly calms my worries and troubles. I eventually get out and brush my teeth.
I like to to style my hair. My parents blessed me with beautiful curly hair so why not show it off. I slicked my hair back into a low ponytail. I changed into black jeans that fit nice and a black tank with a jacket to keep me warm.
As I left my room the smell of alcohol hit my nose, that's when my reality set in. I saw him sitting on the couch passed out on whatever he found in the cabinets.
I step over broken glass on the ground and lift the beer bottle from his hand. I clean the tables and place a blanket over his body.
Despite the pain he gives me, he is still my father. A grieving father.
I slip on my converse and head out. I check the time and see it's 10:00am on the dot. still late
I see the building and start to run instead. I can't drive so the only thing I can use are my legs to get places. Especially after my father got drunk and stabbed holes in my bike tires.
I grabbed the knob of the door and enter the facility. Everything seemed normal so I headed to the back and placed my bag in my personally locker.
"ZARA" shit please don't be who I think it is. I turn around and see I'm faced with my boss. peachy
"I know, I know I'm late cut me some slack" I really hope she would back off. I am not a people person, I just need this money to pay the hospital bills.
"No, if you are late again god so help me yo-"
"No, I'm here. I get it, I'm late but at least allow me to explain. This is a daycare so calm down lara." I grab my name tag and go to my class.
I teach and look after a group of 5 kids. Super adorable ones too. Today I have a new kid. great more money
As I walk in the room it's empty. Looks like everyone else was late too. 10 minutes pass and the class looks full.
Sally, Luke, and Lucy and all playing uno, and I doubt they know what they are going. Leo and Angela and looking through pictures books. I was about to tell them to circle around until the door bursted open.
"Do you mind?" I'm looking at some man that deciding he wanted to rudely interrupt my class. Instead of speaking he's staring at me like some fool.
"I eli" I look down see a little boy with dark hair near the man. Must be his brother. He runs in while also trying to pull the man. "This daddy" nevermind
"Hi you must be my new kid, and you are?"
"Um I'm Adonis, I'm here to drop him off." obviously
"Ok, pick up time is at 3, don't be late." I go to close the door but Eli isn't finished talking to his dad. "Bye daddy"

The kids have been playing for a while. I think Eli fits right into the group of kids.
"Ok kids, how about we draw yea?"
"YAY" they all collectively screamed. All but Leo, he's a quiet kid.
They have been drawing for a while now so I go around and see what they made. Lucy made a flower and not surprisingly so did Sally. Leo made a book and everyone else made some weird unidentifiable things.
The bell rang and that meant everyone was it go to the front of the classroom to wait for their parents. It was me Eli and Sally.
Sally's brother was always late to pick her up so I used to it, but I haven't known Eli for long. I start to get annoyed when Sally gets picked up and it's just me and Elias. That's his real name.
"I like your wing" I look down at Eli and see him holding my hand to get a better look at it. If he weren't a kid I would have snatched my hand away.
I stifled a "thank you" and tapped my foot. I look up and I'm met with the green eyes on his father. bout time
"Are you always this late, it's 5"
"It's none of your business."
"Hmm, just sign here and here buddy."
"Don't speak to me like that, do you know who I am. It's obvious you're just some bratty girl trying to raise a few extra bucks. What is, daddy not giving you money anymore." This man is starting to get on my last nerve, I stare into his features and see this man is actually very attractive, over 6 feet as well. If only he wasn't an ass.
"Bye Eli, I can't wait to see you tomorrow" I decide to keep it professional and say bye to Eli. Surprisingly he runs and gives me a big hug. I'm not used to hugs so I just stand there and slowed par his back. He jumps down and pulls his father out of the building by his pants.
I sigh deeply and start to gather my stuff to go to my next location. The hospital.
