Adonis's Pov
Elias and I were watching 'Antman'. It was 4 in the morning and he still hadn't gone to bed. He had bribed me with cleaning his room and his famous puppy eyes.
He was leaning on my chest wrapped up in his new blanket. His breathing has calmed down so I assumed he was sleeping. I grabbed the remote and shut the TV off. We were in my room so I just walked over to bed and placed him down.
As I was about to enter my bathroom Eli spoke up "Daddy, I wasn't done." He got up from the bed walking back over to the couch. "I was just resting my eyes."
"Eli, it is time to sleep." Elias always likes to bitter back and forth instead of listening to me directly.
"Dad pleasee."
"If you don't listen you'll be in trouble."
"Fine, I'll go to sleep now but only because I want to." He slowly walked back to the bed.
"Goodnight buddy, I love you." Something I wished my father would say to me. I make sure I say it at least once a day to Eli.
"Love you too, old man." Before I could say anything back my phone rang. Who could it be at almost 5 in the morning?
Zara?
"Zara, what's going on? It's 5am." I heard nothing on the other side of the phone. Is she alright?
"Hello? Where are you?" I was starting to get concerned. I turned over to look at Eli, he was hearing everything. I saw him mouth 'What's wrong?'.
"Adonis, can you come get me, please."
"Yeah yeah Of course I can, send me your location." She sent her location not long after.
"Daddy can I come too? Can I? Pleaseee." Elis begged. "No Eli you can't come along. Go to bed."
"Fine, but I'm waiting for Zara." This kid.
"I'll be back." He gave me a hug before walking back over to the couch resuming the movie. At this point he can live on his own.
Like you would let him.
I drove to Zara's location not wanting to waste anymore time. Zara is on my mind 24/7, I just wanted to kiss her again and again. I drove up to the street she was on and saw her sitting by the road.
What the hell.
I parked the car and surprisingly she still hadn't noticed me. I walked slower not wanting to alarm her. "Zara," No answer. "Zara love, can you hear me?" Her face was stained with tears, it was dark everywhere. The only way I could see her was the single street light shining.
I walked even closer and saw her eyes were squeezed shut and she was mouthing something. "Zara'' I said a little bit louder and her eyes snapped open. She looked at me and immediately got up and wrapped her arms around me.
At first I didn't react but then wrapped my arms around her as well. "Zara, love are you ok?"
"I can't go home."
"Why not?" She pulled away hoping I won't push any farther. "Ok ok wanna come to mine?"
"Please." We walked to the car after a few stumbles. I opened the door for her then walked back over to my side. We had been driving for a few minutes without uttering a word.
"She died"
"Who?" I spoke softly. "Emmy." Her sister. "My sister."
"I don't even know why I'm telling you, I just, I don't know, I feel like I can tell you anything."
"It's ok to open up Zara."
"I know, I just never have before, only to Bri."
"Bri?"
"My longest, closest friend." The rest of the ride she told me about her childhood. She seemed to get sad about the memories but would cover it up with a good memory. She told me about her mom and some of her tattoos. The adventures she would go on with her sister, the dreams she had growing up.
We entered my home and the gates opened. I parked the car and walked over to Zara's side and opened her door. Her lips curled into a smile and she hopped down. I placed my hand on the small of her back and led her to the door.
I was greeted by a guard then I heard running. Don't tell me El-
"ZARA" Elias came from around the corner and jumped into her arms. "Hey babe." She kissed his cheek and he put her face on her shoulder. Wow, I have never seen him do this to any female before. Not even me.
"Oh hey daddy."
"Didn't I tell you to go to bed, mister?"
"Oh c'mon leave him alone." She turned and started to walk to the living room.
"HA" Great, now Elias is stealing Zara away from me.
