SPRING CLEANING

Come to think of it, I never thought spring would look this nice. The birds chirping, the flowers blooming, the sun is shining. You gotta appreciate mother nature. While there are ups of spring, the downs are not far behind. The attic was getting really dusty and shady, so Dad wanted us to go up there, and "make 'em spick and span," as how Dad would say it.

"I know it's dusty, but, man. This is not what I had in mind," I felt like my lungs had stopped working because of the amount of dust in the air.

Mom's head sticked out as she looked up from the entrance, "Well, it's been a long time since we clean up this place."

Me and my brothers exhanged glances. We looked around in the attic. Most of the things that we didn't need anymore goes up here; old clothes, baby toys, baby blankets, ancient wardrobes, pre-historic journals. To be honest, we might as well sell them in the antique shop.

The door bell rang. "That must be your friends. I'll get it." Mom went back down. Her shoes thumping on the wooden floor. Soon, more footsteps can be heard.

"Wow" was all that came out from Luke's mouth. "You weren't kidding when you say 'it's snowing dust'."

Dad was about to go down the ladder when he said "Okay guys, I'll let you guys handle this. Your mother and I are going to the store to find us new things for spring this year." Footsteps, footsteps, then the door clicked. Dad's car engine roared as the sound got quieter.

I tried to sigh, but I was afraid my breathing would be inhibited. Besides, with all the dust, you couldn't even possibly breathing normally.

"Alright guys," Ben said, "let's get cleaning."

It took us two hours to clean the whole attic, considering we coughed and sneezed along the way. Felix used his wind elemental powers to, literally, blow off the dusts. Many of the small items we placed outside beside the trash can.

After it was all over, we dropped on the couch and helped ourselves with some water.

"Glad that's over," Zeke coughed.
Danny sneezed for the 100th time. "No kidding."
"But hey. We managed," I said, trying to hold in my sneeze.

We sat for a couple more hours, talking about random stuff, managing to switch on the TV. Nevertheless, it was a pretty fun spring cleaning.

But that was over thirty years ago. Now, I'm on my own; on my own journey in life. Just recalling that moment makes me feel nostalgic, but I can't turn back now. Even though, now, they're all gone, I will never forget that moment, for it is the best spring cleaning ever.
