She confused everyone beyond any form of measurement. She was here one minute and gone the next, almost an illusion. No one knew her story or why she constantly disappeared as she mainly kept to herself.

Rayne sighed as she heard the arguing downstairs begin and curled herself into a small ball on the white duvet. A loud smack was heard, followed by a slamming door causing rayne to bolt down the stairs to see what was wrong.

Her mother was sobbing and holding her cheek as she looked towards the front door. The sound of an engine revving broke the silence in the room as my mother broke down. He was finally leaving. She hated what he did to her mother, and so did her mother, but she loved him as well. He would be back in the morning and she would welcome him with open arms like always.

Rayne's small hands grabbed the large, army green backpack from under the bed. She had planned this for months. The bag contained only the necessities along with the money she saved. Rayne had saved up for a long time, wanting to get away from her monster of a dad and now was her chance.

She wanted to go. She needed to go.
