The next morning was the same. I went about my normal routine and went to breakfast the next morning. I don't know how the Pink Motel can even afford a kitchen and dining room, but somehow it does.

As i made my way to sit in my usual chair after getting a waffle and juice, I felt someone tap me in the shoulder. Startled, I quickly turned around to see one of the boys who was sitting at the table with him last night.

"Hi. I'm sorry I didn't properly introduce myself to you last night. I'm Luke." he said with a smile, holding out a hand for me to shake.

"I'm Rayne." I shift awkwardly on my feet.

"Mind if I sit down?" He asked politely.

"Not at all!"

But just as we had started a nice conversation, Emerson walks up to the table, looking frantic and upset.

"Ray, I hate to do this, but I need you to work the front desk in the lobby today. My wife is sick and I need to go home right now." He seemed so stressed.

I agreed without hesitation; Emerson has done so much for me and this is only a small favor. Besides, how hard could it be?

*

No. This could not be happening.

As I made my way to the desk, I saw him. He was sitting behind the desk with his feet propped up and a smirk growing on his face.

"I didn't think you'd show up." He said, looking down at his computer as I took a seat next to him. I scooted the chair as far to the other side as I could before replying.

"Really, and why is that?" I said sarcastically.

"Because you don't work here."

"Really? It seems like I know what I'm doing better than you." I retorted.

A young woman came up to the desk saying she needed a new key to her room. Calum helped her and, surprisingly, he wasn't an ass about it.

"Wow. You actually have a heart." I muttered.

"Honey, of course I have a heart. I'm not always an asshole." He said slowly.

I made eye contact with him and he quickly looked back at his computer.

"Really? I wouldn't know. All you've done is be rude to me."

"What can I say? Good girls like you always fall for the assholes." He says with a smirk and doesn't even bother to look up from his computer.

"I'm not a good girl." I defend quietly.

He chuckles lightly.

"Prove it." he finally turns completely to me and I scoff.

"I don't have to prove anything to you."

"You just did."

I roll my eyes at his childish behavior and start organizing the papers that were left on the table without another word.

What was he doing to me?
