It was so humiliating and new for him. Tony had never dealt with this before—never felt this way before. He was absolutely, head-over-heals, in love with you but you were completely obvious to it. The billionaire was used to women throwing themselves at him, not having to try very hard to get the girl he wanted. Until you.

From the moment you joined the team, Tony knew he was a goner. Your kindness towards everyone—towards him; how your smile could light up the darkest room. The fact that the two of you worked so well when you were paired up on missions, even though Tony was distracted by your grace as you fought and making sure you were save.

Tony used to insist on being solo on missions, that he didn't need a partner. Until you came along and he didn't want to ever not work with you. The team thought that it was extremely strange and caught on to Tony's feelings pretty fast after that, all but you. You were so incredibly clueless, they all found it so amusing.

You two were becoming close friends, but you would fail to pick up on any of the hints that Tony would drop you. Like special date nights he would arrange. Like the one time he bought you two matching pjs, decorated the movie room, and bought enough food to feed an army. You two cuddled as you forced him to watch your favorite movie. Once the movie was over you kissed his cheek and told him that he was a great friend. It hurt Tony slightly, he didn't want to just be a great friend. He wanted to be more than that to you.

So he didn't give up. He did dates out at restaurants and events. He took you places and bought you things. Tony remember your favorite things and had them secretly stashed away for when you weren't having the best of days. He even missed out on one of his own parties once because you were sick and he couldn't bare to leave you home alone.

Honestly, Tony didn't know what else to do besides straight up telling you his feelings. But he wasn't that type of man. He also wasn't the type to give up easily, which caused him to, sometimes painfully, keep trying.

"Hey, Stark," Steve greeted as he walked into the common living space of the compound.

"Hey," Tony muttered, too busy staring at you and Natasha as you trained out on the grounds together.

Steve couldn't help but shake his head and chuckle as he took out a water bottle from the fridge and headed over to where Tony was standing. "When are you going to tell her that you're in love with her?"

"When I know she feels the same."

"And how do you know if you don't talk about those feelings? Especially since she's so oblivious." Tony's jaw clenched. "You're going to need to tell her sooner or later."

Tony's head whipped in Steve's direction. "Why? Do you know something I don't? Is someone else going after her beca—"

"Woah, woah, woah, Stark. Calm down. No one else is after her." Tony let out a brief breath of relief. "Well... no one on the team. But I did hear a few agents discussing how they would like to ask her out and might do it the next time you through a party."

"That's not going to happen because Y/N always goes to my parties with me."

"Yes... but do you actually ask her? Or do you just buy her a matching dress to your tie and have her on your arm all night?"
