"What were you thinking fighting with him" She fumed.
My head was already bandaged round by Zainab.
"What if he killed you or I didn't bring my first Aid kits here, what could have happened" She said with concern.
"I'm sorry" I muttered.
"You went ahead to fight for Lauretta who doesn't even care about you" She said cleaning my face with a towel.
"Y'all don't know James like I do, he's a damn player" I said.
"And did he tell you that he's hitting on Lauretta?" She asked.
"Ouch" I yelped when she touched the most painful bruise.
"Sorry"
"It's okay, I deserve it" I murmured the last sentence.
"So how are you enjoying the Camp so far?" I asked Suddenly.
"It's awesome, this is the first time I've been out without my parents giving strict orders like don't go anywhere Zainab, don't talk to that person Zainab, go and cook for the family Zainab, go and wash the dishes Zainab, Stop chatting Zainab and so on" She mimicked the voice of her parents.
"I'm finally free" She Chuckled.
"You're still gonna go back to them after this Camp you know" I reminded.
"Yeah I know, I'll still go back to their stupid strict rules until I get admitted to the University like my elder sister" She said, this time her tone was a bit saddened.
"You have a sister?" I asked.
"Yeah, She's in her third year at UNILAG studying Nursing" She said. "I just wanna be free like her, she does what she wants and my parents don't talk" She continued.
"How old is she?" I asked.
"Twenty".
"That's why they don't look into her matter, she's old enough to take care of herself"
"I know but I'm also old enough, I'm going seventeen next two months, seventeen" She said looking straight into my eye.
"Yeah I know but they are just protecting and training you, you know the dangers happening in the country"
"Yeah I know but at least a little freedom won't hurt, the only house I'm allowed to go to is Lauretta's and the only people allowed to come to my house is Jane, Lauretta and Dami" She sighed. "But I guess you're right" She smiled.
"Yeah, just be careful in anything you're doing"
We were silent for some minutes, I tried to fight back the urge of telling her how I feel.
"I don't think I can take this anymore" I mumbled but I guess she heard me.
"Say what"
I and Zainab have been seeing each other for some time now, she's really sweet and caring, she's the type of girl a guy would love to hold tight without letting her go and I think I'm one of those guys. Yeah, I've been trying to fight my feelings for long but it seems to be winning and now I need to tell her how I feel before someone else does.
"Zain, do you have a boyfriend?" I asked trying to be sure if I should proceed.
"No, Why do you ask?" She asked with a confused expression.
"I'm really nervous here" I timidly Chuckled.
"You can tell me anything" Her soft voice stroked my heart.
