Once they had finished eating breakfast they bathed and made their way outside, behind the house, near the edge of Humming Forest, In the day time the glow of the forest was dim and there seemed to be less noise than the previous night.
"So, have any of you practiced with your abilities." Sybil asked facing the four.
"Yes." Vanina and Emlyn replied.
Connor looked at them for a moment then turned to Sybil. "What powers? It doesn't get any better than this." He said pointing to his ears and eyes.
"And maybe the occasional urge to pee outside, I'm honestly surprised I never noticed it before. Like all those times and I just brushed it off but it's like...clear you know. Do wolves pee outside? Would they let―"
"Are you done?" Sybil asked wearing an amused expression.
"Well no..." He replied and she gave another look.
"Yes."
"Good. It does get better than that, there is so much more you are capable of, you'll find out soon." She said then turned to the girls.
"What have you discovered?"
Vanina jerked her head to the dragon that was sleeping at her feet. "Besides nameless here, I did a light and compass spell."
Emlyn gave Vanina a brief look of confusion then turned to the woman. "I can grow vines, they're not very long though."
Sybil nodded." And you." She said turning to Arden who was leaning against a tree behind them. They had forgotten he had been standing there.
"I'm with him." He pointed to Connor. "It doesn't get better than these." He said as his fangs emerged from his gums.
"Funny." She deadpanned.
"Thank you." He said, to which he received an eyerole.
"I need to go and get some things, I'll be back." She said before disappearing around the house.
Once she was gone Emlyn turned to Vanina. "Why didn't you tell her about the..." She looked to Arden. "Healing thing." She mouthed.
"Because... I don't trust her." Vanina whispered back harshly.
"Why not? Selene said her name she must be―"
"Selene may trust her but I don't, I don't know her and until I do, it stays secret. Got it." Vanina said giving Emlyn a firm look.
"Fine."
Sybil returned later with five objects in her hand. An ancient looking book, a candle along with matches, Connor's squirrel and a red dagger.
"Why do you have Otto?" Connor asked when he saw the squerrel still wrapped in his bloody T-Shirt.
"You named the creature?" Sybil said looking at him skeptically.
"Yeah. Nice right." Connor said smiling excitedly.
"Nice squirrel, but the name is questionable." Arden said moving closer to the others.
Conor glared at him but said nothing.
"Are we doing some sort of ritual? This looks very cult like." Emlyn said looking at Connor who gave her an I-told-you-so look.
"No. These are to help you with your powers." She said.
She then took each thing and handed it to them. She gave the book to Vanina, the candle and matches to Emlyn, the squirrel to a disgusted Arden and the dagger to Connor.
"Let's begin."

Vanina knew what the book in Sybil's hand was before the woman had given it to her. It was similar to the book she had taken from the library and stored behind the pillow of another room. The room Connor slept in.
