Runes

It was almost time for lunch. I'm not sure if he's coming or not but the cafe is pretty empty.... I'm sure no one would mind if... I just.. left for a few minutes..

I slowly grab his regular order, including one more blueberry muffin, for Jayce of course. I made sure to get two napkins to hold the coffee this time, and wrote a note on the counter.' Hey! cashier left to do something '

Ok so maybe being early— oh yeah write the rune before you go.. Walking backwards nearly bumping into the cafe door. I breathe on the glass making it foggy writing a mixture of runes for protection, I'm almost—

" Still using magic?" I flinched, how the hell did Viktor get so close and how did I not hear him?? " Of-Of course I wouldn't stop after like.. two— " Perfect " I look to my right and boom there he is in all of his glory.

The way the sun hits his jawline and hair making it shine like— why are you like this? I mean he's hot and all but " Uh, what do you mean by that?" I asked, tilting my head forward flashing him an awkward smile.

He coughed into his hand, backing away a bit, wait how close was I? " Em.. well I'm sure you've heard about the explosions,"
I nod in response " Well it involves magic,"

My eyes widened in response, " Ah! Well, what.. type of magic..?" " That's the thing—" Wait shit I forgot I was supposed to give you lunch " " I figured.." As I handed him the paper bag and coffee a blue light caught my eye.

" Ah shit the rune " It hadn't been finished. It started glowing brighter and brighter. I quickly fog the window once more writing the last rune. There was a small flash of light leading to blue shiny particles flying in the air. " Wow" " Yeah.. cool, uh.. anyways about that project.."

" So you're a mage?! I would have never guessed!" Jayce yelled, god I hope these walls aren't thin . " Yeah.. so can we focus on the project?" " Ah sorry, uh so we've been thinking of making machinery that is fueled by hextech"

' hextech? I think he means magic..?' I turn to Viktor, my mouth parting. " Just like we did as kids..?" " Huh?" Jayce questioned looking at me then Viktor " Me and [ FN ] were friends since childhood, they were the one to introduced me to magic "

" Ohhh " Jayce cleared his throat " Anyways we've barely started on the project and need your help with the rune placements " " So you've already got the blueprints down?" " Yes—" But you said you barely started?"

" What he means is that we haven't started the actual process of making it " Viktor replies, making me nod " Well then we must get going," " Huh? What?" Jayce says sounding nervous " Don't worry I just need to get some books, Viktor come with me." " Why— I grab his hand as I walk out the room, his hand is so cold.

" [ FN ] what was that?" " Nothin, just want to take you down memory lane.. I also want some alone time with you " I mumbled that last part, my cheeks heating up a bit. " Can we slow down? I don't think my legs can handle it " Viktor says in a playful tone letting out a dry laugh.

" If you were able to walk down that one rocky cave when we were younger so quickly, you can now " I replied with a smile, Viktor scoffs " My legs aren't as good as they used to be " " Alright we get it old man " I turn to face him making him bump into me, thankfully I catch him. I quickly wrote runes into his chest, I could see a blue shine in his eyes as soon as I finished.

He quickly looked me up and down, his lips parted. " I've been.. practicing healing magic?" I said smiling looking worried " Don't worry I appreciate it.." My smile growing wider as I tug at his arm " Come one we aren't even close to the place " " Why must you be so secretive with it " "pftt because it's a secret duh "

We stopped by the cafe " You could have just said we were going to your family's cafe?" " We're just stopping for something " I searched my pocket for a key " ahuh " I grabbed the key and jab it into the hole twisting it, as I opened the door the smell of dirty laundry and cinnamon fill my nose.

" What is my mom doing now.." I slowly walk to my room looking at all the doors " I think you should let go of my hand " " Oh uh sorry" I let out a small chuckle. I speed walk over to my bed bending down getting a medium size box out.

I stood up and turned to see Viktor looking at some crystals near my bed " I still have the crystals you gave me " " Oh yeahh, I gave you them like years ago, where'd you put them?" He went through his pocket and pulled out one

" The green Aventurine I gave you! Where are the rest?" "hm.. probably at home, I haven't checked" I threw the box up as it was about to fall " Welp we have what we need I think we should get going to the real location"

" It's not too far from here, I really hope you remember." We walked up a stone path with grass and dandelions growing out of the cracks.. Viktor's cane made a loud thud as it made contact with each stone.

There it was, a small worn down shack with a metal sign, ' do not enter ' carved into it. I could hear Viktor let out a quiet gasp " I know right, it looks like shit "

I turned to see Viktor's brows furrowed, he definitely took offense to that " Of course not" He quickened his pace, opening the door for me, excited to relive his old memories. " A lot has changed, and by changed I mean I just swept the floor, dusted, and added more plants." Viktor touched all the drawings we made and old books about boats and mechanical contraptions.

I drew a rune on the wall making the shack light up, little blue particles made everything shine brightly with life. " Jayce is probably eating my lunch right now " I chuckle " Don't worry I can just get you some muffins and bread " "You're too kind"

" We're back!!" I yelled as I saw Jayce with wide eyes eating a blueberry muffin and the paper bag turned on it's side. " Jayce " Viktor said in a stern voice "What??— you took too long" Jayce replied with his mouth full. " You're lucky [ FN ] gave me more pastries "

I walked up to Jayce and placed down the books on the table. " Books " I watched as he opened one in awe. " You have lots of reading to do."

hehehehe
